1. What is the difference between waxing and glazing ? Which provides more protection?

2. How long should you wait to detail a car after its been painted.

Thanks guys for all of your help in advance

Difference between Wax and Glaze.

Wax is typicly to enhance Gloss and has Protection abilitys (thats the best way I can explain perhaps someone else can chime in here)

Glaze is typicly just for gloss while it does have protection abliltys they aren't very good!

I think there is a general misconseption in the general public with the term "Waxing your car"

Sealent offeres the most protection of all!

As for how long wating to detail a car after its been painted!
Talk to the body shop where you had your car painted .... it has a lot to do with the processes they used and the products.

:yeah

Definitely talk to the paint guy if you have any questions regarding the time you need to give the paint before you "detail it up." He should know - after all, it's what he does for a living. :)

A glaze also can be used for filling in light marring before the application of a wax.

I had my new fiberglass hood painted with DuPont. I called Dupont and they said to wait 120 days. I called Megs and they said to use Megs #5 Glaze till I can wax it.

To me in my own termanology-

Wax- a product whether it is paste or liquid used to give protection to the item it is applied to.

Glaze - a product used to add wetness, depth , reflectivity and fill minute imperfections in the paint. True glazes do not contain any abrasive products i think.

I think the rule of thumb is ninety days before you can use a sealant or wax on a freshly painted surface.
