Couple of questions

Hi guys. I've been looking for a forum like this for ages. I've been picking up what little tips i can from a forum here and there. I have a 2005 Subaru Impreza 2.5RS in Midnight Blue. I've been getting my car handwashed during the winter and i've been doing it myself with meguirs gold wash and wax in the warmer months. I recently got an orbital buffer from sears as a gift (new), and from what I hear that isn't going to get me far. I have turtle wax scrub free wheel polish, meguirs tire black, meguirs NXT dashboard protector, the meguirs gold wash and the meguirs gold wax. I have a chamois that i picked up at the new york auto show and it leaves some beads even after a few passes. I'm really starting from scrach here in terms of knowledge, I'm a computer technician lol. Comments...Suggestions? I'd really like to get this car looking great, not that the meguirs wash doesn't, but you catch my drift.

The best advice anybody can give you is "do a little research". Find and download the e-book (sorry, I don't remember where the link is :o ) and study it. This stuff isn't rocket (or computer ;) ) science, but it is a little more involved than one might think.

Short answer: you want to wash, dry, clay, polish, and protect. Besides needing some clay, you need a polish to use before the wax. I'd get Meguiar's #80, or at least that's the standard, first-option reply I'd give in your case.

Get a WWMF (waffle-weave micro fiber) for the drying, it'll get the little drops the chamois leaves.

Study up on wash technique, IMO that's one of the biggies.
