hey all.
I have some general questions about cleaning/polishing/waxing steps.
1) I know that each step is sequential (cleaning and claybar then polishing then waxing) to get the maximum result of gloss and protection to your car.. but are all these steps neccessary every time you decide to wax your car after a car wash? my assumption is that if the car is in good shape (or if it is new), then cleaning and claybar isn't really neccessary. But lets say for.. polishing, is it required per-se before you actually decide to wax the car every time to give that extra shine? Or is polish used only if your car is dull and not in perfect shape? Do you guys always clean/polish before waxing your car?
2) also, I want to know whether I need to get the existing factory wax off of a new car I just bought (by either washing with dawn soap or pre-wax cleaner) before applying a OTC wax such as NXT wax.
3) lastly, I heard from a friend that to apply polish/cleaner, you gotta "work into the paint" by applying with some pressure, whereas waxing requires you to apply the product with little force. is this true?
thanks alot for your responses/answers in advance!
