Couple of 1Z questions + Menzerna PO85

Just did my Audi last night using Menzerna IP & FP, as well as some 1Z MP. Have a couple of questions:

1) I like the Menzerna and was especially happy with the cleanup of my pads, no mess at all. FP worked well but I'm not so sure that I thought it was better than 1Z MP. I used some MP and the black just seemed to look better. However, with all the talk about the new PO85 Ceramiclear product, I wondered it it was any better than the MP. Has anyone used both?

2) It doesn't seem to get much better than 1Z MP. I know Accumulator really likes the Pro version. Can someone help me understand the difference in results with: A) WaxPolish Soft, B) Metallic Polish, C) Express Polish, and D) Pro vesion of Metallic?

Also, if anyone has used the Sonus products and can compare them to the 1Z or Menzerna, I'd appreciate it.

WE have SO many good products to choose from these days!

I have those Menzerna products and the 1z triplets ( MP, PP, Ulta/Extra Polish). The enhanced depth one views from the 1z is due to its wax content. This is a nice feature but can mean hiding left over defects. When I use 1z I make sure to go over it with alcohol to make sure it cleaned up everything and normally it does. Perhaps then I may want ot lightly apply it again for its cleaner-wax capablities.

Menzerna is a pure polish. What you see is what you get. If the defects look like they are gone, they are gone. Menzerna followed by 1z sounds good to me.

I've used all of the above for removeal of marring. One thing I do, however, is to ALWAYS finish with FP to make sure is strips any oils, fillers or whatever is in the other polishes. Wipe off after FP always leaves the paint squeeky clean.

Now that I have the PRD085 and its big brother, PO106FF, I won't be going back to FP any time soon.....

SamIam- Most of this you'ver probably read before :o but anyhow...

The Pro MP has more abrasive (but not much, just enough to do *something* on paint like Audis have) and less wax. I've heard that they removed the carnauba and left in the "synthetic wax".

The pink consumer MP has more wax and a milder abrasive. Mild enough that IMO it won't do much of *anything* to Audi clear.

No experience with the Express, very little with the Wax Polish Soft. The WPS seems like a cross between the Pro and consumer MPs. Abrasives in between the two products and plenty of wax. Pretty good hiding/filling ability (which may or may not be what you want). I'd be careful what you top WPS with, I'd just use a carnauba.

FWIW, when I had a panel on the S8 just right (no marring, ready for LSP), I hit it with Menzerna FP as per Gonzo's advice. Compared it with the adjacent panels, which had Pro MP used on them, and didn't like the FP look. Perhaps it was just "bare paint vs. wax" but the waxes/etc. that the Pro MP left behind made the paint look a *lot* better to me. I went over the FP area with my Pro MP and it looked the same as the rest of the car (which was the way I liked it). Guess this will just be a personal preference thing...some people like the "FP effect", I prefer the "MP effect".

If your happy with both, why not use both? Maybe IP/FP/MP would give you the look you want without masking or hiding the defects. I'm getting some 1Z MP from a trade from another member and i'm looking forward to using it.

My light polishes/glazes keep filling up :o

You could use MP as a sort of glaze to create the "pop" once you complete remove the defects with the Menzerna. Although I haven't touched my MP in a while now.
