Correctly applying and buffing SG?

I posted a thread earlier about the 3 coats of SG that I applied to my car. I did it by hand using a terry covered round applicator that can be bought at any auto parts store. I only used an extremely small amount as directed, maybe 3-4 drops on a fender or 1/3 of the hood etc. After applying it in those small areas I would immediately buff it off with one of the 18 super plush microfiber towels that I ordered from Autogeek.

It was very easy to buff the product off, obviously because I did not allow the product to dry. Was this the correct procedure, or is it supposed to be difficult to remove? Also, some people who use the SG complain about hazing and streaking, but I didn't experience these effects. Just wondering what would cause the two mentioned problems? Thanks.

Applying too thick would cause it to be a PITA to remove. Applying uneven would cause it to streak. I typically apply a similar way to you, but use a small misting spray bottle, let it haze and use a MF applicator.

Leave it on for 24 hours. Might still be hard to remove but get best results that way

lately I have been spraying SG on, leaving for 10 to 30 seconds then buffing off with a monster fluffy

This way I apply up to ten coats within a day

Seems to have good durability and maybe a way to apply more coats after applying a couple coats by wipe on method

I would think that the microfiber would absorb too much of the product. I'm guessing that couldn't be a good thing especially when using such a small amount as with the SG. I find that the terry applicators work great. I do dampen it with plain water beforehand.

If it's working for you I would hesitate to change anything. But FWIW, I apply with foam (so thin I can't really see it), let it set up overnight, and buff it off the next morning with a suede-style MF.

Excepting weird situations where a certain paint is just finicky, IMO most people's probems with SG come from putting it on too thick or unevenly.

It doesn't really absorb too much. Also I usually go over after my last layer with a mix of water (cold, filtered) and a small amount (~20parts water 1 part SG) of SG and use that like a QD.
