Cool things customers have done for you other than tips

The most "Unique" tip I ever received was a box/roll of plastic wrap!! My client worked in a factory that produces the stuff for big grocery stores. It was 2500 feet long and 11 inches wide! I figure it will last our family about 8 years at the rate we're going (it's been 2 years already)!!! The best and most regular tips are usually in the form of cases of beer. Summer/Winter/Rain or Shine, that is a nice gesture!

One customer which he owns a metal fabrication biz is going to build me custom "aluminum" cabinets for my enclosed trailer for free. Now I can place my spray bottles on my trailer door and cabinets on the side to place most of my Detailing supplies. NO more plastic bins on the floor. NO more bending over HOT DOG! I'm going to love it. The customer owns a 04 Z6 Black Corvette that I cherrie out for him

I've only done 2 cars so far this year...first was a silver BMW 325Ci and the second one was a pretty new neighbor who moved into my neighborhood lasr year in october. He had me wash, wax and do the interior in his 2000 Maxima. When I was finishing up, he came by and asked if I'd go out to pizza with him and his kids. I had nothing else to do that ngiht, so I went along with it. After the meal, he doens't allow me to pay for my food (which was a good 20 bucks worth) and gives me a $10 dollar tip on top of a $75 job. He let me have some fun with the Maxima (5-Speed Manual) when we got back. I don't have my license yet so we stayed on a road right by the hood but he let me play with it...he was shocked at how well I drove stick :). Now, I also get to do his two tone Plymouth Prowler and his wife's old red Suburban...and he gave me a referral! So, I got a tip, free food which can be like another $20 tip, doing more of his cars, and a referrarl! Yep, I covered everything. That's what happens when you do a really good job and offer a wax upgrade to Souveran for only 5 bucks...it made a real impression on him. The key is not to tell them how well it looks compared to lets say NXT..have them see for themselves and let them think you buffed the hell out f the car :D.

Doesn't have to do with detailing, but on Easter Sunday I replaced a fuel pump on a BMW. This was in an empty parking lot outside of my workplace, apparently it just died when he went back to his car. Long story. After I finished up, he offered me the joint he had been smoking for last few minutes of the work. I declined, because I had to go back to work.

Brand new BMW too. Guy looked around 35. Hmm.

Ah, good ol' California. I've found drugs in a car that I've detailed before (it was for a friend who I knew smoked, fortuneatly, or else it would have been VERY awkward), but I've never been offfered any on the job. First time for everything, I guess.

My best client gives me referrals :) Also brought out lunch to me and my interior guy the last two times we were over. I was first to arrive last time and they fed me breakfast and made coffee... The pool is also open to us, should we need to cool off... And test drives... can't forget those. Always fun.

Great guy, overall.

I got the keys of a Bentley Continental GT Coupe thrown to me and told to bring it back whenever :D

I didn't take him up on the offer though :(
