Convertible Top

I have a new black on black Z4 BMW (Z3 I thought but inside says 4, I dont know much about them sorry) that needs to be detailed. The owner wants the convertible top cleaned. He said there were white marks on it and before he brought it I thought he meant stains or sling from compound or something from his guy that details his cars now. Well after bringing it over and inspecting it I see that it is NOT compound or sap or anything but it's where the fibers are kind of flat and white/shiny where it lays down when the top is down and forms a flat spot near the creases. It's not that noticeable put he is picky about it, selling the car and wants them completely gone. The top is black as well which makes it a bit worse. They look shiny and a white tint where it's creased as if the heat did it when it was laid down in the back.

Has anyone here seen such a thing and have a fix for it? I was going to get my steamer to hit it some and a brush to try and fluff the fibers back up but do not want to do that yet until I know for sure it wont mess it up. I do not mess with convertible tops a ton so have not had to fix this type of problem. I do not even know if it can be fixed. I know it will do it again when it lays down in the heat but he said he is selling it, wants them gone and will not put the top down again.

Thanks a lot for any info here guys!
