Comments on my services and pricing

im going to give you my honest opinion... that pricelist is way too complex . i tried that stuff and people either want a full detail or a wash and wax . there are so many kinds of vehicles that you are better off giving a base price then adding extra services or increase the price for extra work like scratch removal or filthy interiors . they know its going to cost more so dont be afraid to charge for youre time . example someone calls me; i ask what kind of vehicle then i ask what year then what color then i give a base price and ask if they want to add clay or engine detail then give a price .keep it simple . they want a clean vehicle at a fair price ... youre work is what really matters. i almost forgot .. bargain shoppers looking to get a reduced price are nothing but trouble so walk away from those jobs. those people are the biggest pain the ass nitpicking and reluctantly paying for your hard work .. i refer them to the local car wash where they offer CHEAP work ...

I agree with bigron, Your list is way to complex. Its better to offer 3 or 4 packages for customers to pick from.

I offer 4 basic packages.

1. wash only.

2. wash and vac.

3. wash and wax.

4. full detail.

Most times a customer is looking for one of these packages, if not they will ask you what other services you offer.

I offer
Wash : hand wash , vacuum , tires starting at $20

Wash and Wax $40

Deluxe exteriors $75

Deluxe interior $75

Full detail $125 to $250

too many choices will prevent a customer from making a decision because they will have to take the time to add up different options and will ask what each one does and if it better than this option. they may say "i will get back to you" or "i have to talk to my spouse" 3 or 4 packages tops and then they look at what each pack gives them and go with the one they can afford or want. less options=easier business also.

i gotcha.......i think i might keep that list for myself, and base my packages off my list, the packages are a good suggestion, thanks
what about my prcicing though to high not enough?

Pricing is entirely relative to where you are working at. I prefer not to price the services, but rather just charge them for my time. I bill myself out at $40/hr. Regardless of if I'm cleaning carpets or removing swirls the hourly rate stays pretty much the same. I've tried a few different pricing structures and this has made the best sense for me. I don't advertise my prices though, so if this is something you are going to be putting on a permanent price sign or something then you may need to go another route. It works well for me as a hobbiest detailer though.

Good post! Agreed

I offer 3 different packages ranging from wash/vac all the way to full clay and polishing/shampooing.

The only extras I offer are engine detailing, heavy scratch removal, and headliner cleaning. Those are the least purchased as most don't need/want them.

As the others stated, I would make it much simpler.

I am a little different than most. If someone needs me to wash their car, then right off the bat I know they havent taken care of it. (90% of the time)
My price is 250.00 and then they can take a maintanace program after that.

I like your style!

I agree that a good middle ground like 3 or 4 packages seems to sell the most. Too few and they will think that's all you have available, too many and they get confused. I keep my list to 4 packages and have a separate list of add-ons and modified services that I will offer in person if the customer is looking for something a little different than the packages I have listed.
