Combo...PC and Rotary

I am seeing that a lot of people are using the rotary for the cutting portion with lets say PB 2.5 ssr.....and polishing with the pc....is this a combo that is working for everyone...I mean the PC is a lot slower than a rotary?....I have only used a rotary.....but I keep a open mind.....dont like ego get ahead of quality and learning....

What ya guys think of the combo....and lets say ya want to do a car ine 4.5 hrs....

I use a rotary only when I have to cut the finish on cars that have major swrils, mostly darker colored cars is what I find. The SSR lne up works well with a rotary but I do beleive that Steve designed it for a PC.

On finishing the car I always use a polishing pad with a PC just makes fro a more even finish and then do the sealant by hand.

I am looking to get a new rotary...actually this spring.....but I might want to get a pc as well.......I was looking at the fien I think the name is....not sure I think they are like 275....and a pc as well....Getting some lights for the garage next month.....

So you dont like the rotary for polishing....or you just rather the pc.....little more control...

What about the time..I heard that the pc is takes a lot of time....what ya think?>

Its not that I like one over the other its that a rotary if for cutting for the most part. You can use it for finishing but I find that the PC is better suited for the job.
If you have the cash I would buy both if you where just going to get one then the PC would be my choice!

I have a rotary variable speed.....wanted to give the pc a try....just something different.....going to get another rotary and pc this spring and redo my product lineup......always trying new htings that is the only way to get better no?

I would seriously consider buying a Cyclo as your rotary. Many people (myself included) believe that is works much better than a PC. I used my Cyclo this past weekend. I was able to take out scratches and swirls using the orange cutting pads that I was previously unable to take out using a PC. It is an expensive tool, but well worth the price. Check this site for more feedback on the Cyclo before you make your final decision.

It makes sense to use both in one detail. You do your cutting and compounding with the rotary, and do your finishing steps with the PC. It adds a bit of insurance in case there are some swirls from the rotary. This insurance becomes less as you become more accustomed to the rotary, but it is sound advice for a newer rotary user. PC's don't swirl paint but they can be be slow. Do your time-consuming steps with a rotary and your quick stuff with the PC. It makes sense.

I have no problem using a rotary....but I just wanted to see if there are any ways to improve.....now how does a rotary for correction and a cyclo for polishing sound?

Hey, that sounds like a winner! I have all three. I bought the Cyclo first, then the PC, and then a Rotary. I have a Metabo rotary (which is on par with a Fein). I don't think you need all 3, so if I had to pick 2, yes, Cyclo and a Rotary.

So what is your review on the cyclo vs pc...as far as time and results.?

Or ya just polish with the rotary if pressed for time?
