after reading this quote: Quote: This product is a one-step cleaner/polish and synthetic wax.

Very much like Meguiar's Cleaner/Wax, (A-12 the maroon bottle stuff), only with better cleaning ability, and darkening ability, thus the reason it will restore the true colour.

Part of seeing a paints true colour is have a really clean surface. You don't want any built-up contamination, DIP, (dirt in pores), chemical etching, etc to block or hide the true colour of the paint from shining through, whether its a single stage, or a clear coat.

So by upping the cleaning ability, this product makes for a stronger cleaner wax for Joe Consumer looking for an effective one-step product.

Easy to use, versatile, can be used by hand or machine. End quote.

I started to wonder if the "darkening abliity" would mean ColorX isn't good for light colored cars (mine is silver). Anyone know???

Second, what type of applicator should I use to apply ColorX by hand???

Lastly, if I do a LSP after ColorX, do I have to do it immediately or do I have a day or two I can wait to do it (most likely the car would be driven in between ColorX and LSP- is that ok???)

thanks

ColorX should be fine, darkening is more of an effect that you see on reds and blacks. That said, if you have a silver car and are looking for an OTC polish and wax in one, Duragloss #101 is far and away (and I cannot overstate this) better than anything else you will find in an auto parts store. Duragloss also makes a great spray wax, Aquawax, that you can top 101 with. Its like 6 bucks a bottle and honestly I'd pay 20 a bottle for it if I had to. Duragloss products are available at Napa, Carquest, and some other random auto parts stores.

The Meguiars foam pads are great for this. If you have severe oxidation, a very soft and high quality terry towel is good for the job, as foam pads cake up really fast, and terry has more area/bite to take off oxidation. For a car in decent shape, foam is the only way to go. Buy a 4-pack, and use one for the hood trunk and roof, one for the upper side panels, and 2 for the lower side panels. They *will* get dirty with stuff that you're cleaning out of the paint and you don't really want to rub that stuff back into the paint.

As long as you wash in between, it'll be fine. ColorX leaves a sealant/wax behind, so you could theoretically use it as your only LSP. Once again, I'd reccomend getting DG 101 instead, but any people have had very good results with ColorX. The way I see it, Duragloss has the market cornered on light colored cars (amazing gloss and flake pop) but I'd prefer Meg's for a red or black car. If you have any other questions feel free to PM me.

I would speculate that ColorX is the "cleaner wax" version of NXT. It has a very similar look to NXT on the car. I have not noticed any darkening, it generally has a very shiny, synthetic wax look to it.

IMO, ColorX is a great product. I generally use it as just a cleaner and top with Collinite. It is very easy to use, and I usually apply with a blue Propel pad. Wipes off very easily.

I just happened to pick up a bottle to do my 2nd paid detail which happened to be a Chevu 3500 dually 4door longbed.... The pain!

Anyways, after washing, claying, and some scrubbing and drying, I applied a coat of the ColorX. It brightened the white of the truck quite nicely, and removed alot of the minor swirl marks.

Very nice OTC cleaner wax. Surface was very smooth and fine. Rain almost looked as if it was blowing away from the truck as we were driving down the road.

color x its very good cleaner wax like autoglym or klass

color x keep paint very clean and very smooth and also you can layer by nxt or carnuba

ithink siliver need bright finish by use qd or polymer its diffuclt color to make pop

you must choice the right product and very important to use glaze in silver befor wax

I've never noticed ColorX to darken the paint. I do notice NXT darkening the paint on every car I've used it on.
