Collinite

Can the Collinite products be purchased OTC? I read a thread on here and thought I saw that it could, but my search turned up nothing. :usa

I've seen Collinite 845 at Advance Auto. I've read that you can find Collinite products at Marine supply shops as well (but have never actually checked.)

Unfortunatly, I can't find them locally anywhere, Advance Auto or any marine boat

place. Only get them on-line, got mine from a motorcycle / Honda place, 2 for $ 25,

I think, free ship !!

845 IW is top quality :spot

I can buy Collinite locally at my auto paint supply store. It carries 3M, Meguiars, Aurora products. My local boat marine store carries Collinite. Never saw Collinite for sale at Autozone, Pep Boys, NAPA, Carquest here in CT.

On another note, local NAPA and Carquest stores should carry Duragloss products but most do not in mid-CT. So its really hit-or-miss depending on the franchisee.

I would bite the bullet once and order online if needed.

Collinite is much like Duragloss in terms of distribution....some cities/towns carry it, others don't. I have checked nearly every parts store and most of the local marine stores here in town, and Collinite is nowhere to be found. :nixweiss Just another one of those "jewels in the rough" kinda things...lucky if you can source it locally.

Not widespread.

As stated above, it seems to be very liked by certain local niche type shops.

Good luck finding it.

Advance Auto - in the boat supplies section.

Same here. I actually used it on a boat last spring. We'll see how it held up this fall. It's in salt water 24/7 all summer.

is it good stuff?

Well that is subjective, just like any product. FWIW, it is easy to use, however I am not sold yet. I need to see more first hand results. I have #16 and feel it looks better, but is more difficult to use. For durable cheap protection with good looks, then yes it is a winner.

Collinite is easy on - easy off and very durable. #16 is very durable but is a pain in the behind to use. My guess would be that #16 will outlast 845 but some will definitely prefer the more user friendly product.

I ordered both Duragloss and Collinite from Exceldetail.com the other day and it came pretty quick. The prices seemed right and the packing job they did was first rate.

I'm looking forward to trying both products on different vehicles and getting them ready for the winter. Also got some Optimum Compound in the same order....haven't tried a compound yet, just Klasse AIO, so I'm hoping to give the truck the full works this weekend.

.. I have #16 and feel it looks better [than Collinite]..

Yeah, direct comparisons on my wife's silver A8 showed that #16 looked better (well, at least to us). The areas I did with 845 didn't bead as long as the areas I did with #16, but the areas I did with 476S beaded *longer*.
