Collinite 845

Today I used Collinite 845 for the first time. I have a very clean 2004 Porsche 911. In the past I have used Zaino products and PS21. I purchased the Collinte 845 at the suggestion of the good people on this forum. ( Basicaly, because I am lazy and was looking for a product for a lazy man) I can tell you all, that at least to my eye, the 845 is no match for Zaino or PS21.

Maybe I need to layer the 845 before it comes up or maybe it need to wait a day or two. I do really know. Also cannot blame in on the prep. The car has been prepared the same for all the top coast I use.

I am not a pro and my work cannot compare to what I have seem on this site. However, Collinte is no wonder.

Looking for a lazy man's ;) protection and appearance enhancing product?

You already have it. Zaino Z2PRO or Z5 once every 6 months and just use Z8 after every wash. :xyxthumbs

Doesn't get any easier or time saving than that. :Geezx

What color? IMO 845 over Colorx looks great. Remember 845 is fairly clear- you might want to try a glaze under it. Even if you don't like it on your car don't feel as if it was a wasted product. It works great on wheels.

Its really not meant to be a "match" against those unrelated products (one is a sealant, the other a concourse wax). Plus, given your winter weather in NY, you can't ask for a better foundation of protection from a wax. It has a very clear look to it. Feel free to top it with your P21s or any other beauty carnauba you have. That's what I do. The toppers act as a sacrificial layer then I can renew monthly with a 20 minute wax job.

Wannafbody also makes a great point. It will do wonders for lasting protection on your wheels making future cleanups easier with soap and water. It is one of the few products that can withstand the extreme heat from the brakes and not degrade in protection. After all, if you read its description use, its no wonder why.

Interesting about the wheels. I will do. Zainos is a pain because of the mixing. And if you want to do a part of a car at time. You wind up wasting the Zaino that was mixed.

The car is Black. Not Metalic

Do you have any Souveran or Natty Blue or Carnauba Moose Wax? If so, try topping the 845 on your black Porsche. Those toppers on black for *me* look awesome.

Oh yeah, the wheel tip is a good one. Given that 845 has no cleaners, you'll need to give them a polishing with Klasse AIO or a good "scrubbing" with a dedicated wheel cleaner.

Some paints/surfaces just look better with one product than they do with another and you can't discount the eye-of-the-beholder factor either, we all have our preferences.

And I've been known to put Collinite (their 476S) on my wife's A8 for the winter despite its not looking quite as nice as her usual LSPs. Worth it for the durability so yeah, 845 would be a good easy LSP for the wheels. Just remember to use regular shampoo instead of wheel cleaner lest you clean it off ;)

I love my 845, durability is excellent. I applied 3 coats in September had several washes since than a lot of winter snow, salt and few touch free washes - car still looks like just waxed. I like the natural look of the pain - Graphite Pearl, but I would like to get some extra "reflection," "spark" :) - I'm thinking about spring already. Any specific suggestions as far as different wax, glaze together with 845? I never used glaze, should I apply over 845 or before. :getdown

Happy Holidays :)

:wavey

Lots of suggestion for a topping to the 845. I will likely do that. However, as a lazy man, it is not what I really wanted to do.

I apprecaite all the advise, this is really a great forum.

Thanks.
