Coldest Day since Last Feb. - 2004 Impulse Blue GTO

CHAOS

i dont know HOW i got talked into doing this, but i did. LOL. The temperatures that day (jan 21st) peaked at a whopping 24 degrees.

Anyway, this is a 2004 GTO, paint had definitely seen some better days... car hadnt been washed in over 6 months. :shocked definitely some swirls going on, some light to moderate scratches as well. After this car, i decided that i DEFINITELY need a rotary.

OK, finally, the pix...

yea it was cold.

me washing the car... i was using HOT water from a tap in the garage and it was still freezing as soon as it hit the ground..

The car was washed with Poorboys Super Slick N' Suds, and then clayed with Meg's yellow clay. Let me tell you, it was Oh-so-obvious that this car had never been clayed before.

Anyway, heres the after-clay/pre-polish pix

just imagine that, over the entire car.

I then got to work with some SSR3,SSR2, SSR1, Polish W/ Sealant, and Collinite 845

and of course, the after shots.

the night shots were taken immediately after pulling the thing out of my garage...

Wheels got PB Wheel Sealant, tires got PB Bold & Bright

There were a few tough spots on the wheels. Dylan and I decided they were probably best left for spring when i can get at them without having ice on my hands (im not joking, my jeans even froze to the pavement several times)

and now, daylight shots.

all shots were taken by dylan (the owner). Also, he would like me to point out that the daylight shots were taken the next morning after driving the car home over salt/cinder covered roads.

Thanks for looking.

First of all, I can't imagine working in the cold of weather unless it was all done in a heated garage. What can I say, I'm from Cali:D . You did a great job and a very nice turn around. Nice Job!

Looking good, glad this detail ended up working out for you. Like I told you before, a rotary really does speed up the correction process once you learn how to use it properly but I really want to try out the Flex and see if it lives up to the hype.

Dude, you have cojones! Using a hose @ 24F is a major! Great job! Just next time, use ONR, hose and bucket at that temp is just too much, honestly...

it wouldnt have mattered what i used lol ... trying to wash a car while standing on ice you just created is an adventure lol

24*? LMAO!! Man, it was -8*f with a -30 wind-chill last weekend. Toughen up chief!!

ONR in a heated garage is the only way to go in this temp. Unless you can get access to a heated shop to work in.

Great outcome...Nice color!

Awesome man, I'm in northern Va. The HOT buckets of water and ONR are the only reason I'm still taking appointments. After that, the garage it goes.

Nice. What was your process as far as the SSRs, and what pad combos? Did you do the whole car with SSR3 or just the rougher areas? I'm thinking of getting the SSRs to try out with my PC too.

Looks really good! :)

I can't believe you dragged out the hose when it was that cold. I agree about cleaning those stock wheels, those corners where the spokes meet the rims are a PITA!

way to go! I would've just chickened out and said "i'll do it in the summer time"! I think you could've corrected it with the PC no problem. Have you tried using the Ceramiclear line? I've found I can correct anything with that on a PC too.

well 90% of the car needed ssr3, so it got it. lol. the trunk lid was pretty much the only part that didnt need it.

I saw some of your work on another forum. Great job. I'm pretty sure that the owner of the car wants some PB's products for at home.

haha thanks, he's a good friend of mine so he'll probably just try to get me to lend him my products

i dont really have the money to be investing in all kinds of different products to try, which is a shame, because there are alot of great ones out there. i dont really generate enough business to justify spending all kinds of money on all the latest and greatest lol

thanks guys! i really appreciate the compliments and such. i don't get to do a lot of cars, but when i do, i try to make them look pretty damn good.

Great job, and you do have some major cajones using a hose in this weather! I've been using all ONR and detailing in my garage with the portable heater running!
