Coatings over PPF

I recently acquired a new car, the hood and roof have PPF over it. Should I apply CQuartz UK over the top of the PPF or just leave it as is? I thought i remember reading on here to not apply coatings over the PPF as it changes how they are designed to sheet water off of it. The film is Suntek.

Their are PPF specific coatings and sealants out. Gyeon just came out with a new line. I know BudgetPlan1 uses Polish Angel cosmic spritz on his Suntek(?). Just don’t remember if his is coated

They put a layer of Kami Film Surface Coating on the Stek PPF; maintain w Cosmic Spritz.

While lots of mfg`s now have PPF specific coatings, many folks have coated PPF with paint coatings w no issues. No personal experience w that, I just do what the PPF installers tell me to do.

It`s best that way, saves me from my latest `great idea` some of which turn out to be, well...not so great.

I`d contact a Suntek installer or Suntek themselves and see what they say, different film may have different `features` that may not play well (self healing, built in hydrophobic properties, etc.)

Many have coated PPF for a long time. Some like to add that hydrophobic layer on top of the film. I have heard that the films attributes are not affected by any coating.

Companies (CarPro, Gtechniq, Gyeon) have now started to offer PPF specific films. This is an interesting take from GTechniq on their specific coating. Roughlu around the 23:45 mark.

Been coating PPF for almost 10 years now without issues. Xpel even has their own coating now that can be applied to PPF and paint.
