Clearance Towel find at WalMart

Had to stop by Wally World this evening. Checked out their car care section to see what I could see.

I found an interesting Microfiber drying towel. The best way to describe it is a tightly wound microfiber with a sponge interior. The idea is to use it chamois style where you drag the towel across the surface to dry, Wring out when full of water.

They seem to be nicely made with a nice edge to them.

WalMart has these in the clearance section for $2 each. I picked up 3 just for heck of it.

Here's what they look like.

Those type of towels have been discussed on here before. I'd be interested to see how they stack up to a good waffle weave mf. $2 a piece does seem like a pretty good deal though. Did you by chance notice what the regular price was?

wouldn't that material around the edges scratch the paint?
As a rule I always remove all labels and/or anything that might be rough on the paint.

Many of the high end microfibers that are available today have silk borders. I haven't had any problems with them scratching my finish.

I think the reg price is $6 each.

At $2 a piece they seem like a decent towel. The size is 16x24 I plan to keep one in the car for when I am away from my regular home supplies.

I just want to give a heads up on these since they are so inexpensive. This WalMart had a large stack of them. At least 30-40.

They also have a Chenille Mitt and cheap microfiber towel combo being cleared out for $5. They both seemed OK. Would make great gifts for the non detailing type.

As mentioned below the edges on these towels do feel silky soft. In fact the edges feel softer to the touch than the MF.

I have tried them and DO NOT like them. Before I get through drying a single panel, it is soaked. You can wring the water out, but it stays wet and streaks the water around.

I bought one a while back to try out and wasn't impressed. I gave it away....

I'll second that. I was very displeased at this towel, and it has been sitting in my garage for about a year if I remember correctly. I wouldn't waste the $2.

Contrary to others I love them. I have used two of them for a year now. They hold up very nicely and two of them do my whole car. I use one to take the majoriity of the water off and use the second one for detail work. I have washed al most every week and they still look great.
