Clear Coat Etching

I let bird droppings stay on my hood in the sun too long. When I cleaned it off, it left a stain, and had etched a spot about two square inches.



I tried using a clay bar and Meguiar's Clear Coat prep. The clay removed some of the stain, but the Meguiar's did little.



Does anyone have ideas how I may correct this problem?



The car is a '98 Olds Intrigue with Gold paint.

You will need an abrasive polish, something like 3M Swirl Mark Remover will do the trick.
