Cleaning up aluminum parts in engine bay.

Belt tensioner, alternator, power steering pump bracket and much more are aluminum.

I don't necessarily want it to a polished finish at all, just a nice clean.

I have some aluminum polish I bought years ago that I could try.

Would a scotch brite pad and some wd40 work too?
 
If they are parts you can freely rinse after with water, check out P21S polishing soap. I use it on my exhaust tips and really like it over the paste alternatives that come in tubes.
