I use a gel dressing so my applicator is really greasy and hard to clean. If I get mad enough, I might as well just toss it. What are some tricks you guys out there use to get these clean?
I use this thing: Tire Dress Express . The pads for it are $3 so I just toss 'em when they get dirty. But they seldom *get* all that dirty as I clean the tires before I dress them, they almost always wear out first.
BTW, I'm a *HUGE* fan of the Tire Dress Express; I used to simply hate dressing tires but the rotating handle makes all the difference.
Thanks for the recommendation on the Tire Dress Express...it's on my list for the next order.
Since I'm currently using a petroleum based product it's of no use to clean the pad; I just place it in a zip lock and it's primed for next use. They then get tossed when funky and go onto a new one.
Kerosene or paint thinner will get that gunk out. It's how dirt bikers get their oiled foam air filters clean, they also use gasoline but that could leave unwanted varnish or deposits.
