cleaning tight areas on car

I was just wondering how you guys clean the tight areas of your car. I have a 2001 Mercury Cougar and when I have the trunk up, you can see debris down between in the crack by the bumper. I am not sure how to get the out. I pulled out what I could but it is nearly impossible to clean with anything. Any ideas?

Swabs, BHBs, and I pick large pieces of stuff out with long, fine-tipped tweezers.

The set of small BHBs that Griot's sells (pn 15520 IIRC) is great for this sort of thing, I use mine every time I wash.

sorry to thread jack but i have a question thats in the same topic. the spoiler of a rx7 FC is very low and the space between the area of the spoiler and and rear end of the car is very little too... ~ 1 1/2 - 2inch space... just wondering how to clean that area and seal it?

You can also buy a set of ultra-soft brushes which are used for applying gloss (varnish) to woodwork. (Craftsman has a nice line up)

They will not harm your paintwork and you can use them on your dash and in your interior provided you keep them real clean and seperate for each purpose.

I also found that oil painting brushes are really good to work with given their long handles and several sizes. However be sure to wrap their metal parts which hold the bristles with soft threaded duct tape so it does not touch the painted areas.

I'll be dealing with this on the M3 when my mechanic (finally  ) finishes with it and I plan to work my products with swabs or a MF wrapped around something.

Meguair's, Griot's and, IIRC, TOL sell some big swabs that work OK for this, and they have nice thick sticks that are useful in and of themselves (wrap the MF around them).

You could take it off, but in some cases you can open a can of worms (and in others it goes off/on just fine).
