cleaning pads with oily residue

Hi Guys,

Cleaning products like Megs 105/205 off pads is easy.

But what about oily products.

Specifically DG#501 or DG#105?

The pad cleaner I have (Pinnacle XMT Polishing Pad Cleaner) doesn't seem to break down the oily residue?

Any hints?

Cheers

I wouldn't call what 501 or 105 leaves as greasy, but Dawn Power Dissolver or Megs Super Degreaser work very well on those.

ok thx guys...

I am not sure if those products are available here, but I will check them out :)

edit - Ahh I see Power Dissolver is just a regular kitchen type product..

Would that be too harsh for LC Hydra pads?

Cheers

I haven't had any issues with PD and I've been using it for years now. Just don't breathe any of the fumes. The other thing to remember is, with durable products like Duragloss, the quicker you clean the pad, the better. Do no let the sealant dry on them.

Someone on here recommended Dawn Power Dissolver a few years ago for cleaning up the pads. Never had any issues even with the new hydros.

Another thing you can do is use water based polishes. I moved off of oily based polishes onto water based with the intro of Menzerna products. I just find it easier to cleanup the pads, sometimes using water only.

yeah - well I really like the DG stuff... the only problem is cleaning the pads..

ive stopped using the pad to apply 601/105/111 because I feel its unnecessary.

but as a cleaning prestep the 501 is really good and a pad makes it even better IMHO...

I will try this PD stuff if I can find it :)
