Cleaning Lexan MR10?

Can you safely clean Lexan MR10 with windex (no amonia/phosphates)?

I searched and found 1 data sheet that did not list windex on it; another data sheet did, but it said windex w/ ammonia (the ammonia is just for cleaning, not resisting marring or anything, is it?))

Do not use windex on lexan. Try a water dampened rag with mild soap. There are dedicated lexan cleaners, but try this first. Lexan cleaners can get expensive.

mild soap + water does not seem to remove sweat/blood/wd40 stains in it, heh.

I called SABIC and their data sheet said that lexan (MR10 anyways) is compatible with windex.

Why do you say not to use it? bad experience on lexan? If so, was it MR10 lexan, or just some form of regular polycarbonate?

Not sure it was mr10, but it seemed to stain a bit when we tried windex. A damp rag did the trick for us, but then again the piece didn't have blood on it(i won't ask:)). Try a small corner and see what happens.

Tried a small corner, came out crystal clear.

My problem is that SABIC (manufacturer) says MR10 can handle windex just fine (it's in their data sheet, albiet the one with ammonia in it); yet a lot of research on the internet says not to use windex on lexan because it can cloud it up. HOWEVER, none of these sites specify whether it's the cheap-*** regular lexan or the "proper" MR10 lexan.

I would hate to mess up my windshield, like cleaning it and coming out tomorrow to find it turned purple, or worse :(

Right on. If you still have doubts you could just hold off on it for a day and see what happens with the test corner. If by this time tomorrow it's still clear i'd say go for it. But i'd still probably dilute it with a bit of water, just to be on the safe side. Something like 25 water, 75 windex or even 50/50.
