Well its getting warm out and i need to get the salt/grit out of my car, but im not sure what the RIGHT way is to do it.

First of all, i dont even know what the outer parts these seats are made out of. Some say suade and others say a material called alantra or something of that sort. I need to clean that and also the middle material. Theres no salt on the seats just dust and whatever else.

With the floor carpeting, im assuming all the carpet and truck material are all pretty much the same from car to car although the truck has a thicker carpet to it. Salt and crap they put on the roads are on the floor and in the trunk

I cant get the truck picture to work for some reason but its probably common carpet. :nixweiss

If anyone can enlight me on how to clean these it would be great.

First off, Welcome to Autopia!

Many people will say run a search, but I have my carpet/upholstery cleaning routine written up. Here it is:

What you will need

-Hi-power vacuum

-Carpet Extractor (Small Bissel Cleaner or something of the sort)

-Shout Oxy Power

-2 Gal Bucket

-Medium Bristled Nylon Brush

What to do

-Vacuum out the upholstery or carpet

-Mix in the 2 gal bucket: 2 scoops of Shout Oxy Power and the rest with warm/hot water

-Stir it up with the brush and let it sit for 5 mins for the product to saturate into the water

-Proceed to then scrub the solution into the carpet. You will see the solution saturated into the carpet. Just scrub the solution in and work to your next area.

-When the entire area is saturated, begin where you begun scrubbing the first section. Proceed to extract the water solution out of the carpets/upholstery.

-Let it all dry and Voila!

Notes

-I say use a carpet extractor, but you can use a Wet/Dry Vac to suck out the solution. A bissel extractor works better though. Do your research, I am sure there is something at Wal-Mart that will work well. However, make sure you can get it into tight spaces.

-Repeat if necessary. For deep stains, just apply the solution and let it sit for about 20 mins.

Now, as far as the seats, the inside is a nylon mesh and the outside is alcantara. What I would do with those is use a woolite water mixture of 8 parts water, 1 part Woolite in a spray bottle. Spray it on a terry towel and work it into the fabrics.

HOWEVER, I could be wrong. I have never worked on alcantara before. It is a delicate material to clean. Wait for some more insight on the alcantara cleaning before you go at it, but as far as the floor mats and carpeting, I have had great success with the directions above.

Good Luck and be sure to post full pictures of your R. :D

Wow thanks for the great info. Your right i forgot to search on the basic carpet part however i have searched on the seats on various forums and no one could really help me out. If anyone can give more input on the alcantara cleaning that would be awsome.

Thanks again for that response GSRstilez
