Cleaning interior glass!!!!

MY LEAST FAVORITE JOB!!!

I love detailing, but if I never had to clean the inside glass, I'd be happy.

Most of this animosity comes from the fact that I have a torn rotator cuff and the 'fastback' rear window and the windshield are extremely difficult for me to clean (shoulder pain!)....

Any suggestions to make this job easier? (surgery?...I know.)

Well, nothing replaces the old fingers......But, I understand your predictament....I have a tip...for those hard to reach areas...Use the mini CCD, the one they make for dashes...Wrap a cotton towel around it, or whatever it is you use to do your windows....Let me know what you think, or come up with...I had problems doing the rear window on a SC320 a week or two ago, and came up with that...

What range of motion can't you do Luster? I was also trying to think of ways to make window cleaning faster/easier and was thinking of buying a MF mitt (basically a MF towel sewn together) for this. That way I don't have to hang onto the MF and could just wipe with my palm or back of my hand. I'm not sure if that helps, unless you could put the mitt on a stick of some kind... :nixweiss

Idea 2: What about those Swifter or Grab-It type sweepers (or something similar)? You could buy one of those sweeper kits, subtract a couple tubes from the pole you're supposed to screw together, and wrap a MF or hand towel around the sweeper head. The head is flexible and will pivot in any direction and the shortened pole gives you some reach.

Have someone else do it for you...

Seriously, I hate doing windows as well, what I usually do for the final pass is wrap a MF to a window squeegy blade... especially when i'm doing hatchbacks or liftbacks... I can excert more pressure without being a contortionist.

Thanks for the ideas guys!

Tomorrow will be my glass cleaning Saturday........

I think using a "device" wrapped in a MF towel is the most solid answer.

What range of motion can't you do?

Mostly, its the long reach that's a problem.

I have a mini CCD......maybe with a MF attached.........hmmmmmm......I think that'll work.

I always used to have problems getting to the bottom and corners of my rear window to clean. Somebody here recommended using a kitchen spatula (preferably plastic) wrapped with a MF. Works like a charm, the longer handle means less reaching and the thin profile can access the hard to reach places.

That griots "device" looks cool, but I already have a spatula.

I have been using a kitchen spatula for some time, it works very well. I started to use it for my inside of the windscreen as the bottom of the glass is partly covered by the dashboard but is visable from outside. It is also very useful for cleaning the window frames (housing).

Eastwood www.eastwoodco.com has a triangular shaped doohickey that's about 18" long that reaches down into the corners of the windows and it comes with mf pads...velcro attached I think. It's just like the one at Griots only a bit cheaper...if memory serves. JimS
