what is your thoughts on claying? I clay before I wax or compound any surface. I think that this is a very imorant part of the washing process. The other day i came across a post they were using a diffrent techniqu

e. It was Autoscrub made by nanoskin. I wacthed a few videos and looks like it may work. Has anyone tired it??????? They are saying that this better than clay. Here is a video of the using

whats your thoughts????????:wavey

We have pretty much switched to using the AutoScrub on every car. Not only is it super fast and effective, but the pad lasts for a very very long time. I have yet to wear mine out, and been using for months. I do however recommend that when the pad is brand new it needs to be broken down. This means use it on a car needing a full correction, or sand with it on a wood table or something. After a few uses the pad gets broken in, kind of like a new pair of boots. Once it's broken in, it won't mar the softest of paints if used with their GLIDE lubricant. A high speed machine needs a high speed lube, so I don't recommend using conventional clay lube. All in all, it's one of the best advancements in the detailing industry I have seen in a long time.

As an abrasive I can see how it would remove surface decontaminants, but then so would an abrasive polish.

Paint decontamination systems were developed as a method of removing paint contamination that is embedded in the paint surface; beyond what can be removed by washing, detailer’s clay or abrasive polishing.

Paint decontamination systems were developed as a method of removing paint contamination beyond what can be removed by washing or claying alone. The imbedded (below paint surface) iron particles are released by the exothermic reaction between the acid and moisture, the heat opens the micro-pores of the paint, thus releasing the sintered iron particles, and to neutralize caustic compounds that have developed in the paint's subsurface. Ongoing damage is immediately stopped and future damage is prevented by removing the ferrous particles that act as a conduit to the paint matrix.
