Claying while vehicle is wet

Do you guys clay while the vehichle is still wet. I'd be using ONR, can I just spray the whole car down and begin claying?
 
you can mix it to wash strength in a spray bottle and use it just like you would a dedicated spray lube



i wouldnt spray the whole car down at once, i would do a section at a time
 
I use ONR+water as a lube, but if you're just ONR-ing and then going straight to a clay, then I'd suggest rinsing. ONR is designed to "engulf" the dirt, but I wouldn't suggest going straight to a clay without wiping or rinsing it first. If it's not blazing hot, I always leave the car wet before claying; it's going to get wet anyway and I usually either rinse or wash the car again after the clay detail (depending on how mucky it was).

I've clayed while washing the car with conventional car wash soap, ONR, QEW, and with Detail Spray...



My favorite method? Very sudsy car wash soap, put the clay in my wash mit after washing the car and use the clay while it's in the mitt... keep dipping in the soap, repeat... That way it's impossible for it to get dry...:)
 
Some people clay before crying the car (after the wash). I in fact used to do this, but Mike Phillips mentioned the fact that you do grab some more dirt off the surface on occasion during drying (ever notice the dark spots on your towel?)



So now to be safe I wash, dry, then clay the vehicle.
 
Thr real reason you might do this is economics, if you really make sure the car is washed thoroughly(I wash twice)you can use your soap for clay lube.



I like Gloss-it soap and CG citrus wash & gloss, as both lubricate the finish well and I have not noticed my clay breaking down with these two soaps. Another thing to consider if you clay while the car is wet, is to have soft water because in the summer if you are mobile you do not have the luxury of washing in the shade always and spotting will occur.

After washing and rinsing. I leave the car wet and spray my choosen lube on the car and start the claying process.
 
I wash my car thoroughly, while its still wet I clay the car one panel at a time, rinsing after claying. I use a cheap QD on top of the water to assist with lubrication. Once I finish the claying I rewash and dry. That seems to work pretty well for me.
