I have a black 03 cobra and have these products and was wondering if this would be the correct order. I am new to using this polish and aio so I would like some input or suggestions to get this black paint straight. A few light swirls and very minor clearcoat scratches.

Thanks

Chuck

If you have some light swirls you will have to use something stronger than anything you have listed. AIO isn't abrasive enough, and #7 isn't abrasive at all. You'll have to go over the car with a swirl remover by 3M or Meguiar's after claying. Run a search on doing this by hand and be prepared for a bit of a workout.

After that, pick EITHER the #7 or AIO - sealants and glazes (generally) can't seem to be friends. In the absence of perfect paint (let us say you couldn't remove 100% of the defects) a glaze like #7 might look better. Of course it won't give you that little bit extra protection that AIO will give either, so you have to decide....

HTH and good luck!

IMO #7 and S100 are awesome together. I recently posted some pix of my black Mustang (85) in the Bragging Room. Be sure to read the Meguiars #7 article by Mike Phillips - it's in the Hall of Fame - if you try to follow the directions on the bottle you may become frustrated. Post some pictures when you're done - I'd love to see the results on your car.

4DSC is right. You need a mild abrasive to get rid of the light swirls and scratches. The #7 might hide them, but far better to get rid of them.

You have tons of choices. Pick a mild abrasive and work back with more agressive ones if you have to until they are gone. About the gentlest I can think of is GEPC. Menzerna Final Polish would be a good choice--very light cutting action and nothing to hide the swirls, so you can tell if you are getting them out. Products labled as swirl mark removers often have both abrasives and oils to fill and hide the swirls. AIO would clean out the fillers and you might find that you still have some marrings you thought you had erased.

You certainly wouldn't use AIO after #7, although I don't see why it wouldn't work under #7. But I would skip it. If you polish out the swirls and scratches, your paint won't need AIO's cleaning action.

I posted on the other thread & agree with what is being said here......

Claybar: to remove surface contaminants

#9: will remove swirls as well as clean the paint

AIO: not really needed unless you want to give it a good seal that will last for months (I would)

S100: will add additional protection as well as a fantastic shine

Good Luck
