Clay Recommendations

Any input on clay products/Mfgs. would be greatly appreciated.

I would think that most would come from the same source. The only negative comment I heard about was directed towards Meguiars clay from a local Detailer. Also I have seen some come in 3 strengths, mild, moderate and aggressive. Thanks in advance :)

I've had success using Mother's Clay Bar. I did a search on "clay" and found a nearly endless supply of threads about the topic. There were lots of preferences but the Mother's product always seemed to garnish good reviews and it was available locally at my neighborhood autoparts store. I recently purchased some Erazer Clay and it looks the same as the Mother's except I didn't have to buy the whole kit.

I've had good luck with Clay Magic (blue/mild bar) and Zaino clay bars. I'd also recommend staying away from Meguiar's; it smeared so badly that I gave up before I'd finished 1/2 of a panel.

I agree with Tort, stay away from Meguiars clay. It does not work very well, and it breaks down quickly.

I bought 4 oz of their clay and it caused a smearing problem that a little more buffing was required to remove it. Not good on autopian cars because we want a perfect, swirl, scratch, and micro mar free suface. This extra rubbing may invite that.

So either Mother's, Zaino, or Clay Magic will work well based upon reviews.

Thanks for the input guys :) Guess the local detailer I spoke with has company regarding Meguiars clay. He did not get into details, just said it s*cked and not to use it.
