I am detailing a car that hasn't had much attention paid to it for at least 8 years. It is a light metallic blue toyota camry. I started the exterior today, and have two problems.
#1 - The hood, roof, and trunk have heavy deposits of black stuff on them. I worked a spot with a mothers claybar for about 45 minutes and have an improvement, but some of the black spots just aren't coming out. The paint is still rough.
#2 - the hood and the trunk have some light scratches on them.
I'm thinking that with a good cutting compound I will be able to get rid of the scratches and remove the remaining surface contamination. Is this correct, and which one should I use? I'll be applying by hand.
Thanks for the help!
