Clay Lubes: Four Star/ClayMagic Over Sonus

HondaMan

2004 Civic EX magnesium
Hey, been trying out lots of clay lubes and I feel pretty comfortable saying if you need to order replacements, best to go with Four Star or Clay Magic.

I tried some of the Sonus stuff today and it's milkier looking right off the bat and as a result, MUCH harder to remove. Didn't see any improvement in cleansing ability either, may have even been a bit less but lets call it a tie.

Still, it was much more difficult to remove the residue. Even though other detailing steps take it off, I am going to stick with Four Star and Clay Magic.

JMHO.

I've been using ClayMagic blue since I was introduced to claying last year. I use soapy wash water 'cause the clay lube ran out a while ago & I haven't had any problems with marring or residue left on the surface.

Pretty sure ClayMagic blue is a fine clay & it's available at locally at most AutoZones.

:yeah . Save those sprays and use them as detailers. I clay while I'm washing the car . It saves me time and for those of you that wash after they clay it will save you a step. The soapy water works great as a lube for the clay. NTX wash is what I use most of the time, it leaves the surface slick and smooooooth. Give it a try :bigups

I didn't see any clay products at AutoZone in my area...will re-check tomorrow.

I haven't been washing the car after I use the MF to take off the clay residue....I usually either go straight to the SSR & PC 7424 step or the AIO step. I figure either one will pick up any residual clay junk left behind by the MF towel....sound reasonable?

It smelled great and it did an OK job. I'm just saying the color was "milkier" coming out of the bottle and dried and streaked accordingly. So a bit more work.

Still a fine product, don't get me wrong. I think in a few weeks I'll try all 3 products rather than go by recollection. I'll report back.

Personally, I like Play-doh. It's cheap and readily available. Haha, J/K you guys. I have not tried the 4* or Sonus. I did try the Clay Magic. I liked it okay, but for some reason I tend to like the Mother's clay and lube. I know some people here don't like it, but it's available at the local stores and it works fine for me. Just my $0.02.
