Clay by PC, unsafe!

Yeah that's nuts I'll stick to using it with my belt sander ;)

It's so easy to do by hand I don't see the reason for it, just seems wacko and dangerous.

Nope, I don't like it, and I don't take to kindly to places that offer it for sale, knowing full well all the pitfalls with the product.......... just to make a couple of bucks!

Wow,

That's scary to me. I've always had perfectly smooth results when done by hand. Notice that they recommend low speed. That is really going to consume a lot of clay.

Let's just say I'll be an agnostic and take a wait and see attitude.

Aragahahahahaahhah!!!! :scared :shocked That is the scariest thing I've ever seen! Why would you ever want to do that? Maybe on a surface where scratches don't matter. Maybe if you were trying to clay the bottom of your boat or something. I just can't fathom a detailer that understands why he is using the clay using it with a PC.

This wierd contraption came up in a thread a couple months ago too. Needless to say, people whipped it - whipped it good! :D

It sounds like a dumb idea, like everone else said... all it will do it drag the contaminates you are trying to remove across the paint surface. Therefore, it wont remove them, and it will scratch the finish.

Don't buy it. :nono

Yikes, I can't imagine that buffing the paint with quickdetailer via the foam part of the attachment is good either.

Next we will probably be seeing the following

- "Washmit attachment" for the PC

- "Drying towel attachment"

- "Touchup paint attachment" (it has a small section brush bristles in the middle of the foam pad, so you can buff your touchup paint on in half the time)

- "Tire brush attachment"

:D

Your whole feel for the clay's movement on the paint surface is taken out of the equation. Imagine what type of scratches you'll inflict if a large enough piece of debrit sticks to the clay - ones seen from all angles I'll bet. No way you're going to hear it or feel it scratching with the PC going.:down

You can add it to the shopping car and procede to check out. Would Griots carry a joke that far? I don't think they would because someone out there is likely to believe it.

laaaaazzzyyyyyy. Still haflto take the time to turn off the PC take clay out, fold, put back in PC and then turn on. during that time you haflto worry if the insurance company is gonna cover all thee scratches.

its a joke.

I use Griots products and they talk about it in their info.. but I question just how much sense this makes...

some talk about how much clay you would use.. imagine how much QD just to make sure it doesnt go dry?

Imagine what happens when you squirt some QD on the paint and then run it over with a whirring, spinning PC?!? :shocked

They claim that the sponge helps to lubricate the area being clayed. OK, but how about just using that "donut" sponge by hand then?

I think they've been smoking their own too long over at Griots...scary stuff!

I sent an message to Griot's and they replied saying that claying by PC would be in the interest of time. They did not defend the PC pad otherwise. However, they recommended I try it with their hand pad first. Apparently the pad soaks up the QD and keeps the clay lubricated.

Oh goodie- now all I need is a thing to apply water with a pc, then an adaptor to affix a california blade to the pc. and maybe a chamois too.

TP on a PC?
