Chrome tag bolt hole fillers

Bumperplugs.com if memory serves, makes painted ones with exact color matching for most all painted bumpers. I`m not sure if they offer chrome ones but for the chrome plugs, just do a google search for `chrome bumper plugs` and you`ll be able to check out something that matches your perception of what you want I`m thinking.

The overkill (and expensive!) way would be to go all old-school and have the holes welded shut/ground smooth and the bumper replated. Yeah, I know...just sayin`....

I had that issue with my El Camino- a single square hole in the center of the front bumper. I bought a solid stainless steel carriage bolt at my local hardware store, chucked it in a drill as a makeshift lathe and using different files and grades of sandpaper, reduced the thickness of the bolt head and polished it to match the chrome bumper. It took a bit of work, but IMO, looks better than any type of plug I found.
I don`t have a good closeup pic on my computer, but this one should give you and idea of how it looks:

It`s nothing special, just an original `87 305 with some suspension upgrades and refurbished OEM paint, thanks to Mike Phillips` single-stage paint restoration tutorials. Searching the internet six years ago, looking for help on restoring the dull, faded paint is what brought me to the AutoGeek and Meguiar`s forums and eventually here. I`ve got an ultra-low mileage 350 from a 90`s Buick Roadmaster on my engine stand if I can ever find the time to swap it.
