So I was cleaning my chrome wheels the other day and I just used the remainder of the car wash left in the bucket (like I always do) and a soft horsehair brush. Well, I couldn't get all of the brake dust off...

Does this mean it's pitted?? Should I try something a little bit stronger (like 50:1 diluted Megs APC or something)??

This is the first time that the brake dust hasn't come off with just the car shampoo...

Help??

Once it gets to that point, it's time to polish them. I highly recommend using Klasse AIO and SG on chrome wheels. It will make them look like new again, and you can go back to washing them like you were before.

As far as getting off what's on there, if you can't get it off with a regular wheel cleaner, see if the AIO will get it off and go from there.

If you want to see the difference AIO can make, just look in my gallery and you will see what it did for mine.

You can try clay, but I've never had a problem getting anything off with Mothers Mag Polish, it's my go to product for mags (cleans exellent and protects). Also Zaino glass polish will work good on chrome, but then you have to protect it.

It's a good idea to polish and wax your chrome wheels, just like you would polish and wax the painted surfaces of your vehicle. The polish will help to remove any remaining brake dust residue and the wax will help to protect the surface.

When you use this process there is really no need for using harsh chemicals to clean your wheels. Those chemicals will only help to strip away the protective wax.

The key to keeping chrome wheels looking good is to polish and wax often.
