Chrome Damage Questions

The chrome trim on my black 97 Audi looks like crap. The chrome trim around the windows and on the rubstrip down the body has deteriorated. I have tried Mothers chrome, AIO, Metal polish, and nothing has helped it to the point it looks new. I have thought that maybe I should just try to make it black trim , as I think a mono chrome black looks good.



Is there anything that will either do a better job of restoring the trim, either back to look like chrome, or to black out the trim?

It's not chrome, but actually anodized aluminum. After the anodizing (a hard plating) has started to go, there's nothing you can do except replace it.
