Chemical Guys

Is it me or does Chemical Guys make WAY too many products. They must have like 15 different kinds of soap...

Anything from them a "must have"?

Here is a comparison using CG provided information. Maxi-suds is decent if you use it in stronger concentrations. Citrus Wash and Gloss separates so quickly it has to be shaken. The problem is they use so many superlatives it can get confusing.

Their wheel cleaners work well on well maintained wheels and are very inexpensive because they are dilutable. I like their ClayBlock and soaps as well. V7 is a very good spray sealant.

Citrus Wash & Gloss, works great to strip old wax/sealant.

This is confusing; the table posted by Bunky indicates that all of their products are sealant & wax safe with the exception of Bug & Tar. Wouldn't that mean they won't remove them?

Depends on dilution. Citrus (+/- W&G or Red) is LSP safe at 1oz / 5 gallons. At 1oz / gallon its a stripper.

Good chart, Bunky, thanks for posting. This takes the guess work out and it does appear there is some duplication in their products.

Par for the course as a supplier becomes bigger. Users are awkward so you need products which will meet all possible expectations.

You're right. Having redundant products is pretty common place among many of the large detailing supply companies. Personally, I think a simplistic amount of offerings is the best approach so it doesn't confuse customers.

The data comes straight from CG so I did not validate any claims. My guess is some of their products from sister group in Warner Chemicals that make products for the car wash industry. I think the Mr.Pink dilution is an error but if like Maxi-Suds I would say it is closer to a good dilution. I did not like it as diluted as listed on their web site but then dilution can be a starting point.

They still make the original Citrus Wash that was most commonly used for stripping LSPs at 1 oz per gallon dilution, but it's not on the website--you have to just ask for it.

I've only bought their MF products. Some are very good. Some is not so good. You almost have to buy them and see for yourself.

Can't comment on their lsp's/qd's/shampoos/etc...

But I agree. Lots of redundant, same type products.

I use Citrus W&G for stripping and Maxi-Suds for maintenance washes (when not using ONR).

I haven't used them all but I thing having a variety is good. Everyone has different priorities and preferences.
