Chemical Guys Polishes?

So pretty much everything I use anymore is CGs stuff... its been a while since I actually buffed (2yrs+), but I used to use Optimum and liked it, but I don't have any more now and would like to change to CGs brand polish... I don't have any experience with their polishes, but love pretty much everything else, so figure I might as well change over since its cheaper and easier just to use all the same...

So people with experience with both brands... what is most like Optimum Polish and Compound? As far as workability and cut...

Oh and if it matters... I'm switchin from my PC (which I lost) to a rotary... always liked rotaries more, but never had the cash to spend on one...

Thanks!

i switched to menzerna polishes and havent looked back since. i can pretty much handle any job with 3 polishes and don't have to worry about not being prepared. i do have cut 1.5 from CG and use it for heavy oxidation and head lights. didnt care for the pro polish, rocket polish or any of the others. i have several 16oz bottle of rocket polish if you want to buy one from me, LOL

Menzerna is over priced IMO... tried it long ago and found it no better than the optimum... and *** is the rocket polish? lol I can't find it on their page...

BTW, I'm an Optimum user as well...........but am also interested in some of the better CG products they sell.

Given you are a proponent of CG and used many of their product types, what do you really like to use, what are your favorites? What do you like less than some compared to other product lines? Just curious about things you think are must haves. What about EZ Creme Glaze II??

Just though I'd ask....................let us know.

Thx.

See ya. :wavey

I haven't tried a lot of their new stuff... because I haven't really been into detailing in a few years, but all the old stuff I have is great... my favorites though, and probably the only things I'll really ever use are:

Car wash: Citrus Wash & Gloss, suds up a lot and doesn't take much at all, have had my gallon over a year and still half full! Of course now that I'm so lazy, I only wash my cars like once or twice a month (I know I know). But this is probably the best car wash I've used so far...

Degreaser: Extreme orange super concentrate, works really good and is very versatile depending on how much you dillute it... very cost effective also

Dressing: Extreme VRT, this stuff is great! I use it on all plastics and rubber... works great on tires, doesn't sling, lasts forever! and dries dry to the touch. Looks good on interiors too, although is a little shiny for some dashes... but this stuff lasts a long time!

Sealant: Extreme Top Coat, great all around product, gives good depth, longevity and ease of use. With good prep I usually get 4-5 months of good beading using this. The Factory Seal didn't seem to last as long and doesn't give as much depth in the finish... I don't use any other sealants anymore... well besides Klasse if I feel like hasseling that...

Paste Wax: XXX Hardcore Paste, this stuff looks good, great depth (probably the best wet look thats not super expensive) and lasts several months. Also a pretty user friendly wax.

Liquid Wax: Butter Wet Wax, love this stuff for a quick top layer or to refresh the look... super easy to apply and gives good depth and a super slick surface and is good for a few months of solid protection. There is something about this wax that makes you want to use it. LOL

Detail Spray: Pro-Detailer, this stuff is a great all around detail spray, dillute it 2 parts PD, 1 part water and use it as a waterless wash (more like light dusting, but works good) or dillute it and use it for buffing or clay lube... or use it full strength to enhance the finish...

Their Leather Conditioner and cleaner are also top notch. The Conditioner smells good and softens the leather up very nicely... this is very close to being as good as the Zaino leather cond. but its a lot cheaper.

The Wheel Guard is also a good product, but I typically just use what ever I'm using on the paint on the wheels. Kinda a waste of money...

Oh and about the EZ creme glaze you asked about... its good stuff, but I really don't like glazes in general... don't hide it... fix it. So I've used it, but only once to see how it worked, and it did work as good as most other glazes, but just not somethin I'd use.

I have thousands of dollars worth of detailing products and going back, I wouldn't have bought about 90% of it... not because its bad, but because there is no use for it... you don't need 30 different wax/sealants... 10 different car washes... hundreds of different MF... etc... so you being fairily new... don't get suckers into the flavor of the week club. LOL Its a waste of money... do some research, figure out whats best for your use and go with that...

I use Chemical Guys' Citrus Gloss & Wash and Citrus Daily Wash. VERY VERY good products. I use high concentration of Citrus Gloss & Wash in a spray bottle as a bug & tar cleaner as well as a door jamb shampoo. The citrus-based shampoo is perfect for door jambs because, unlike degreaser or APC, it does not harm rubber seals. Use Citrus Gloss & Wash to wash your car as a prep work cleaner reduces polish gumming. A must have, in my opinion.

I also used their E-Zyme, and it's okay. It is simply too expensive and the result is similar to M16.

I'm interested in cwg and cwc but what are the differences between the two? pro and cons of both?

Yeah sounds like you have been out of the loop awhile as Menzerna is one of the best polishes on the market hands down

See what I mean... over rated. LOL Totally not worth the money IMO... I've used it before and it was good, don't get me wrong, but not amazing and NOT worth the money.

So nobody has tried any CGs polishes? What the hell? The old autopia would have had 10 replies with reviews and opinions by now. LOL What happened? :(

THey are not over rated have you tried Powerfinish S203 or 85RD very hard to beat combo. They are more than worth the money.

You know, I asked the same question a long while back - and to be honest, the majority here doesn't seem to use CG polishes. I know one guy that did before switching to Menzerna and I asked him - his reply was they're ok but nothing great. You could always get some 16 oz bottles and try them - maybe call CG and see if they would work up a special price on a sample pack.
