Chemical Guys Grime Reaper APC vs Hi Temp Prep Wash vs Optimum Power Clean...

Unfortunately this isn't a test with great results, rather a question for those that have experimented with each.

I currently use Hi Temp Prep Wash for treating heavily soiled paint before a wash, along with other uses. I like it a lot and it does it's job very well, but ordering only that from Top of The Line is getting a bit annoying and pricy.

I have heard good things about both the CG Grime Reaper APC and Optimum Power Clean so I'm wondering if someone has compared the three and how they stack up against each other.

Thanks,

Ivan

Lustr- This is almost certainly *NOT* the response you're after, but anyhow...I use PrepWash and like it a lot, but not for what you're talking about (and I've never tried the other two products).

I do those "super washes" with something different, either AutoInt/ValuGard's "A" or FK1119.

What exactly do you use it for?

Cleaning off the stuff polishes/compounds leave behind, primarily the oils. IME it works a lot better on M205 oils than IPA does.

It cleans pads well too, and I've even used it to clean the tub/agitator of the shop's washing machine.

I have used it at times before waxing and I've also used it a few times for pad cleaning, but Meg's APC+ 10-15:1 does great for me with pads so I stick to that.

LUSTR- OK, roger that, I'm all in favor of not fixing what isn't broken!

I did buy some Power Clean a while back, but I'm waiting for a project car to come home before I use it (on that). I wasn't planning to use it quite the way you're talking about though, at least I don't think so.

What has you thinking about these alternatives to the PrepWash?

Yea I use the Prep Wash mixed in with CG Wash & Clear both in the foam gun to pre-rinse, then 1-2oz. in the bucket (again with a wash soap) for the wash, and also for bugs, etc. in a spray bottle. I like it a lot but the reason I'm looking at alternatives is that PW is one of maybe 3-5 things I use and order from separate place than the 95% of my supplies. That along with the fact that I can get the 2 alternatives for cheaper and support a store I like to support (not that I have anything against top of the line or hi-temp haha). Most likely I will keep ordering but $10 shipping is killing me on the gallons, so I figured if a reputable source can say one of the two alternatives are comparable I'd go with that.
