Chemical Guys Butter Wet Wax Question?

How come when I apply Butter Wet Wax (on a black car – try product) the terry cloth with BWW turns black? I thought BWW has “no cleaners or abrasives?

This is all over EX-P and Nattys.. I do not get it.

No clue, doesn't do it for me. I wouldn't apply the BWW over Nattys, I would reverse that and put Nattys over BWW. When I am done with prep, I lay a quick layer of BWW, take it off. Finsih touching up other areas, then after abotu 20 minutes layer on another carnuba.

I asked Paul abotu BWW cure time before another layer of carnuba and he told me a minimum of 10 minutes, more if you have time, but 1o mins is fine.

Whereas don't most nubas need close to 24 hours to cure before layering another coat?

Sounds like it does and the paint is SS or it doesn't and the paint is just dirty. I'm leaning toward it does as it is a "production" type product. What kind of car?

Sounds like there are some cleaners there. Terry is on the aggressive side on it's own. How hard are you rubbing? Sure it's not dirt that may have collected in the corners or are we talking horizontal panels?

rubbing a little harder then towel weight. Trying it on the front driver side fendor. Using new towel. Maybe MF would be better?

I just do not want to remove the LSP on the car.

Did you wiat for the EXP to cure before applying the Nattys?

Waited about 1 hour for EXP to cure. Should have waited 24 but need to drive the car to work...

I was thinking about using JW prime strong and AJT these weekend and skip the others. But still would like to know since I use BWW on my bike and wifes car (and tractor).

Try a MF applicator and see if it goes away. I don't think the curing of anything had anything to do with it. If there are cleaners there or something abrasive(possibly the terry applicator) is used it will have a cleaning effect and remove whatever is there.

I will try a white MF pad tonight..thanks

Also if it hs cleaners in it, will it not go through (or remove) all the under layers of wax, lsp? Or removes dirt etc?

Cleaners usually will remove most of everything, but I guess you never know. Any cloudiness at all, or just the black rubbing off on your towel?

The surface looks very clean, smooth and reflective. I am just thinking (now) that BWW is not worth it if it remove everything.

just the towel (white) look like black dirt behind removed. Not even using SSR1 does this much.

A similar thing happened to a fella on another forum I am on, he coudl not figure out how his clean mf's kept getting bacl or dirty after using for dteail spray on a clena car,e tc. Coem to find out his daughter had been using them sporadically to clean her firends' bikes! Just a thought...

These are new terry towels and MF towels (just washed and "vinagearized"). Weird......I will try less pressure and MF towel tonight.

Right, so were his! Clean ones he'd keep in baggies. She owuld take them out, use them, then put them back w/o him knowing. :)

that is pretty funny but not. The only ones in my house is me, wife and 8-month old. So unless they can reach 6 feet up to a rubbermaid container, I am safe!

So far though I would not really inpressed with it. The gloss etc is still there but surface is not really smooth (after 3 days).

My Jeff Werkstatt products (other fendor) are holding up way better. I was hoping butter wet wax would help with looks but now I am wondering......

Be back in 5 to go try BWW again....

Just did the same fender again....If I rub lighter it is not as black but it still removes "something"...

Here is one, who can one tell if the "black" is dirt or paint? I know Lexus has soft paint but......

I know LOL. I am just freaked since I do not want to use it over JW stuff if it removes "stuff". They odd part is SSR1 does not get the towel dark but BWW does...

Going to try some Optimum Comp tonight, and then SSR1 then BWW and see what happens. If I see black again, BWW is going in the trash...
