Cheap Homemade Car Detailing Kit

Hey guys just wanted to share a small kit i put together to store in my glovebox. It consists of these small 2 ounce spray bottles which i filled with APC, and a QD. I will be adding 2 more with a glass cleaner and leather cleaner. I also put in a microfiber, a glass microfiber and a diaper cloth. Any ideas on what else i should add? Dont want it to get too big so that it still fits in the glovebox. This should handle any small road detailing emergency. :D

would you not want to make the QD just a little bit bigger? I can't imagine the finger pain trying to QD a full size car with that small sprayer... but maybe I'm just weird.

looks like a good kit to me, all I need.

The little 2 oz sprayers that I use work really well. They apply a fine mist that I like better than most of the sprayers that come with QD's. The bottles are small so they can slip into your pocket and since I can do a mini-van with less than an ounce of Poorboy's S&G or Quik Shine they work out rather well....... I transfer a lot of my products into those little sprayers.

The problem I have with little sprayers is that by the time the spray reaches the surface, 1/2 has evaporated! If you move closer to the surface to compensate, the area is minimized! I prefer the larger sprayers myself, although the little car kit is a great idea. Then again, I have a Smart Bin in my truck that houses a lot more then a glove box.

I just want it for spot cleaning of bird poop or tree sap. For the bigger jobs i will take it home and bring out the big guns!

IMO, just the QD, APC and a MF is sufficient, unless we are talking long trips away from home (mult days). There is no need for anything else. Its only for emergencies. You can use the QD on the windows if need be and the APC on the leather if need be. There is no reason for anything else, cuz you wont need it. All I have in mine is QD and a MF cuz thats all you really need for emergencies till I get home.

Oh, maybe air freshener in a sprayer for emergencies when the car doesn't smell up to par and you are going to pick someone up or gunna have your car worked on. I carry Axe in mine so I can use it for both me and the car for emergency situations. LOL

here's a tip for those interested in bottles like these: DOLLAR STORES don't sell empty bottles like these, but they do sell other products that use these bottles, and theyre usually bigger than 2oz. Some are 8 or 11, tall skinny bottles that group together nicely in a box (as opposed to lots of bulbous-bottom-type spray bottles like windex bottles.)

I use dedicated spray-button bottles for 303, AIO booster, SG booster, Woolite+Water, and SimpleGreen+Water. For QD I use a bigger plain bottle sprayer.

After searching a bit, I found that most of these bottles are manufactured in Taiwan or China and are usually .6 cc or .7 cc (cubic centimeters) per button press.

I haven't tried full AIO or SG yet, as it might be too thick for the button sprayers...This thread reminded me to give it a shot. Will report back in a few days.

I also like to keep QD in my jeep for birdpoo but I dont want it to feeze in the winter.. Havent figured out what to do about that yet.. :sadwavey:
