Cheap Foam Gun Test & OCW

I thought I would do a quick review of my cheap foam gun ($5) with various soaps.

First here is the gun vvv

The car I used to test on is my mom's 03 Accord and has 2 month old Natty's blue and hasn't been washed in about 2 weeks, has been driven in rain mult. times and a few Ebrake slides in leaves (dont know who did that  )

First soap

NXT

IMAG0030.jpg

Filled container half way (still had plenty left after one side)

Dwell time 3 mins

Cleaning ability 4/5 (score out of five?)

Foaming ability 4/5

Dwelling 3/5

Overall: Still my favorite soap, foams very well and cleans very well, not much more I can say about it, just a good car wash.

AFTER 3 MIN.

AFTER DWELLING 3 MINS. AND RINSED

Second soap

Rain X Wash & Wax

IMAG0031.jpg

Filled container about 1/3 full

Dwell time 3 mins (sorry now pics after)

Cleaning ability 3/5

Foaming ability 3/5 (didn't work too well with the capsules of wax)

Dwelling 2/5

Overall: Pretty decent for the price, could have been better without the wax capsules that pluged it up every now and then. Didn't stay on the car that long though. Added a little slickness (slicker than NXT or Deep Crystal).

Third soap

Megs Deep Crystal Car Wash

IMAG0029.jpg

Filled container about 1/3 full

Dwell time 3 mins (sorry now pics after)

Cleaning ability 3/5

Foaming ability 2/5 (didn't work too well with the capsules of wax)

Dwelling 2/5

Overall: Dont like this soap, not much to add about it.

Looks good, where did you get the foam gun. Got a part number or link to it? $$?

I think that's a Wal-Mart label. The gun apparently was about $5.

Was this the wax from the RainX still clogging the gun? Deep Crystal doesn't have wax in it does it?

Also, does it have a "foam" pattern on the nozzle? What one did you "click" on if it doesn't?

Yes its a Wal-Mart gun, you can find it in the car washing section and yes it was like $5-6.

The RainX was clogging the gun because it has little yellow capsules of wax (I think) and no, Deep crystal didn't have the same capsules. Take a look at the picture of the RainX soap and I think you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hey good job!

You got similar results to me but less foam, for 5 bucks I'd buy it.

Good layout too ;) lol.

Cool write-up.

I have this same nozzle. I guess it's not too bad for the price. I normally fill the canister 3/4 full and use the "mist" setting to apply to the dirty paint. I use mine more for the added lubricity as opposed to the cleaning ability.

I apply the "foam" to half of the vehicle and begin washing. Once washed, I rinse and move to the other side of the vehicle to repeat.

I haven't tried the "mist" setting for soap, I'll have to try that next time. I mainly use the higher pressure settings like jet, center, and flat. I use it for added lubricity, cleaning, and speeding up the washing process.

I use it the same as you too, half at a time, then back.

Pontman,

So you spray the car with OCW while wet and dry with a MF ?

I normally use my QD for that....didnt think of using OCW that way. Interesting.

so you rinse with the same nozzle ??

and you can use this as opposed to a bucket, and still use a wash mitt ??

Yes, it has a rotating switch to go between water and soap mix. It also lets you choose how much soap to water ration you want (three setting, not precise).

Thanks for all the compliments guys! Drove it to LA (500+ mile drive) and it still looks good.

Does the soap get diluted in the reservoir or is there a tube that pulls the soap up? Because when the Simoniz thing came out a long time ago I got one and in a few minutes while using the soaping setting the soap got diluted. I was looking at this at Walmart but I wasn't sure if I wanted it because of the issue with diluting the soap.

I used this nozzle before I got my simple green foamer. It does dilute the soap as you use it. for the price though, this is an awesome little tool. I used the mist setting also and used it as a way to get added lubricity onto the paint. It helped defend against marring by a noticable degree. if you have 5 bucks to spray, i highly recommend picking one of these up.
