charity/silent auctions....

anyone ever donated to a silent auction that helps out a charity??? like donating a full detail for people to bid on? anyone have any experience with that???

I just did my second auction.

First time I donated a full detail to a foundation in honor of a friend of mine who died in high school. The people who bought it made sure to get their escalade as dirty as possible before they had us do it. So it was a tough job. Then after we do a full detail for them, they have the nerve to call us back and ask if we would like to donate a detail to a local summer camp fundraiser that they would be attending, saying they would buy it. I was rather offended

For the second one which was raising money for my 4th grade teacher who is fighting cancer, I decided one full detail was too much. I decided offering (2) wash, wax, and vac. It raises just as much money, but I expose myself to more people. Its been nearly a month now and neither of the winners have called me.

I'm thinking I need an expiration date in the future.

So those are my experiences.

LOCAL fundraisers are perfect. They are one of the few marketing expenses we employ.

We typically donate a $100 Gift Certificate... Gives us great exposure to our targeted demo, and they spend money with us, also.

Win, Win.

I think a gift certificate is the best idea, that way they can't pull the "get the vehicle as dirty as possible" routine.

hmmm, that certificate idea is pretty good, and so is the wash, vac, wax deal....only costs me about 3 bucks in product use, but can get into touch with lots of people, even those who dont win....
