Charisma vs. Charisma Select

I originally bought Royal Velvet towels. I thought they were great, and they are. Then, I found out about Charismas. I bought them. They are even better.

Now, I find out about Charisma Select!! Hoping that they were NOT better than the regular Charismas, that, perhaps, they just offered some special cosmetics (like designer colors), I emailed Fieldcrest and asked if they were better. Here is part of the answer I received:

" . . . the Select towel is superior for several meaningful reasons. The yarns are much finer permitting more loops per square inch without inordinate weight. Most better towels are made bigger and heavier. Select is larger, but lighter. Secondly, the warp or body also uses lighter yarns further adding to the . . . softness. The use of the Supima cotton throughout insures unparalleled performance and lush feel."

It sounds like the Select is both more plush and softer, characteristics we seek in a good towel. But, that is theory -- good, but it is not actual use. Does anyone use Charisma Select or have any information about these towels? If so, could you share your observations or information?

darbh,

You must be able to read my mind, I have been wondering the samething for the last 2 days. I noticed that the Select are 33x58 instead of the 30x52 of the regular towels. I could not find any other information on the Select towels, just the size. I would also be very interested in any comments from people who use Charisma Select.

Very interesting. I'm wondering how much better these select towels really are. Anyone have an idea about prices for these towels? Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response Jason. Hey Jason, how do you like the large Charisma towels that you got? Remember we both bought some from the same site. I sent mine out to be cut and serged but they were lost in the mail. I did get some towels from Kevin though and I really like the way he cuts and serges his towels. Pretty darn good in my opinion. Laters.

Hey Don! Lost in the mail, hope it was insured. I will not cut and serge them, I will jsut fold them nicely so only the good part is used.

Well I bought 11, my godaunt bought 2, my mother took 3, and my brother took one. So I have 5. I use 3 of them and have 2 set aside. I still was not able to use them on cars yet. I will use one soon. I will use it for Klasse SG and wax. They are so soft and plush, plus they soak up so much water, a true test would be someone with more hair. My hair is kept short.

I will post results soon, the BMW is due in for a coat of Blitz for winter (I can get by with one treatment of Klasse a year, its a garage queen.) Expect pictures.

ShowroomLincoln -- Thanks for your post. Glad to hear someone else had the same thoughts.

So, no one has seen or used a Charisma Select? Perhaps someone (or their spouse) has one they are using for something odd, like use after a shower? ;)

JasonC8301 asked if the Selects were worth an extra $3. We cannot fully answer that question without seeing and using a Select. However, until that time, we can say that there is very little price difference between the two towels. This is because a Select is about 22% larger than than a regular Charisma. A Select costs about 30% more than a regular Charisma. So, the actual cost difference, adjusted for how much product you get, is about 90 cents. If a towel lasts a year, that is about seven cents a month. This difference is insignificant.

darbh,

I was shopping with the girlfriend today, and I stopped to look at some Charisma's. I was trying to find a "Select" to compare with the regular ones. They had tons of shelves of them, and none of them were "select". I even asked two women who worked there, and they told me they never heard of Charisma Select, they have only heard of the regular ones. Maybe you can only get them at the outlet store?

BTW, now my girlfriend thinks I am crazy for looking at towels that cost $27.99/towel for my car. I told her that I get them from the outlet for $9.99, but she still thinks I'm nuts. :)

Showroom -- LOL :D

Yes, I have never bought a towel for $27 for MYSELF and I doubt I ever will. But, for the car, well, that is a different matter ;)

RE: Towels in stores. The FC outlet website says the Selects are made of Suprima cotton. I have seen FC "Surpima" towels offered at stores. I have wondered if they are the same thing as the Selects.
