Change to Zaino?

Jeff, I agree and think something may have changed in the past couple of years. I have applied Zaino to everything in every different atmospheric condition my area offers. Literally applied all 12 months for a number of years and have just noticed the change in the past year or so.

My Z products are all less than 2 years old and even ZFX/Z2 is now taking forever to set up. I still like ZAIO and ZCS and will probably continue to use them however I am anxious to make the change over to BlackFire.

I wonder if it is formula changes to meet VOC laws, etc.

Maybe just a bad batch?

I have always found that the first coat of Z5 or Z2 after claying or polishing is always a PITA to apply and remove. Each coat after that goes on/off pretty easy for me. Almost as easy as BFWD.

Have you changed your application method (pad or MF)?

I have been using Zaino for about 8 years and have been very happy with it's durability. I never use ZFX either. Always just Z5 or Z2, or the combo.

BFWD is super easy to apply/remove and looks just as good a Zaino, but I think Zaino is far more durable and lasts much longer than BFWD. BFWD is great, but I can tell that it is slowing degrading even after a few washes. Zaino seems to last for seveal months before I can notice any change in beading - and can easily go 10+ months between applications.

Call Sal and explain your concerns. Maybe they can send you some replacement product if you are still having concerns?

Yeah I understand that. After nearly a decade of using Zaino I'm familiar how it responds to just about any temperature and humidity. This thread is the culmination of about 18 months of observation, using the product on a regular basis on many different paints in many different conditions. All across the board the stated issue presented itself and has caused concern. I do love the durability of Zaino, but maybe once it runs out, I'll just reach for the Collinite when someone wants that ~6mo durability. I have to say I feel let down by Zaino, and thats sad. It was the first REAL product I started using when I got my start.

After using Zaino with ZFX, as my go to sealant for durability, I have now changed to Collinite 845. I have found 1 coat of 845 is just as durable as 2 coats of Zaino with ZFX, and is easier to apply and remove (in my opinion). I have also had a client tell me that the 845 lasts longer on his vehicle than his previous Zaino treatments.

Very much agree on the bolded sections.

It could be a bad batch, but highly unlikely as its been multiple orders over an 18 month period. i haven't changed my application method either.

All bottles are less than 1 year old as well.

The new Zaino Z2 formula can be PITA in my area because of humidity levels. The old formula was fine.

I haven't had any problems with ZIO though. Not sure on Z5, because I haven't used it in a long time. Fwiw. Blackfire does fine in humidity. Blackfire is much slicker Zaino and looks about the same.

Zaino does last longer though from my experience.

I was a doubter about BWD durability a few months ago. I have 2 customer cars that have had 2 layers of BWD put on at the end of MAY last year and they are now just showing some real signs that it is kicked. The beads are ameoba shaped now and spreading out. I see these cars on a regular basis (co-workers) and I use them to test durabilty of sealants/waxes because I can check on them easily and I know that these customers only hand wash their cars and use no detail spray/booster wax.

Those are Zaino type durability numbers. And the bonus is that with BWD the water spotting is no where near as bad as a 9 month old coating of Zaino.

I used to use Zaino all the time, but I have been using alot of newer sealants lately.
On my own cars the water spotting was driving me crazy.
