I've played with V34/V36/V38 at a friend's. It seems to do the job. My friend swears by the Chemical Guys line, and likes the V34/V36/V38 products a lot.
I was able to play with all three. Unfortunately, I don't have any side by side experience with any other products. My understanding of the products is that your usual go-to combination will be V36, then V38. He claims that the V36 is almost an aggressive compound. As for V34, you'd use that for some trashed paint. I don't know if it is me or not, but I feel that V34 dusts quite a bit. It doesn't really bother me because I feel most compounds will dust regardless. If I had a choice, I feel that M105 is a little more solid product. I think the workability is the same, but I feel that you can do a little more correction with M105.
As for V36, I don't really remember much about it. I do know I used it, but nothing about it sticks out for me.
As for V38, the last time I've worked with it, I remember it as having a long working time. I feel that it needs to be worked down quite a bit before you get the desired effect. That and if you don't, it'll be a bit of a pain to wipe off. I don't think you can moderately finish paint with just a few passes of the polisher. I think it needs to be worked all the way down. I've found that if you shortcut, the residue is very tacky.
My thoughts: I dunno. I just feel like there are better products out there. I didn't feel like it was an easy system to work with. Felt that working time was a bit long and I remember doing multiple passes per a stage to get the desired effect. Or maybe I was using the product incorrectly. I was given damp pads, and found that the chemicals don't really like moisture. I did swap out to dry pads and things seemed to work a bit better. The other thing I felt like was that I could have used a different product/system and gotten the same result with less work and in less time. But yeah... that's just me.
As for my friend. He likes it a lot, and he thinks it is much better than the Meguiar's M105/205 combo. Says it's a much better formula with less dusting and better workability. (Also, before I forget, I would tape trim. I think it will discolor trim.) The V chemicals are his go-to products.
Quick Disclaimer: I am not a pro, and my experience with V34/36/38 in maybe once or twice. So... don't give my thoughts too much weight.
Here's a pic of the result of V34/V36/V38 combo. Sorry about the crappy phone pics. It came out really well. Just took forever to get the result.
