CCD argument with my mom....I won!!

yeappp.... cost me about $25

Corscill Indulgence Towels

100% Cotton

100% Egyptian Cotton Loops

I was going to buy the Fieldcrest brand, but read on the info sheet that Egyptian Cotton Loops are the softest cotten loops made...

Anyways, I took a blank cd-r with me and did the "cd test" (wiping the dry towel on a blank cd-r to see if it caused any swirls/scratches) in the store and the Corscill towels passed. No marks whatsoever and these puppies havent even been washed yet (hopefully they will get softer=).

The sad part is, nearly all my previous towels caused swirls. Even the autozone microfibre towel costs VERY small marks...

Can I use these towels to remove wax like Klasse? then use microfibre for a final buff (will purchase from yosteve this week).

Guess its time to throw out my old grimey disgusting autozone brand 100" cotton CD SCRATCHERS! What other things could I do with them as far as detailing goes? Im not supposed to use fabric softener right? thanks!

You can use your old towels on wheels, so long as they are not clearcoated. Engines, too. Or glass (though MF is better).

You got it right, no fabric softener. In fact, many of us run the towels through an extra rinse cycle, to make sure they have NOTHING on them. Every once in a while, its good to wash them with a cup of white vinegar. Cleans out residues.

Wash the new towels twice before you use them.

Be sure to cut the stitching that holds the labels on. Do not cut the labels, themselves, cut the threads holding them on to the towels. This is the way to remove ALL the labels.

Many of us cut off the edges and the band that has no nap. Many then get the edges "surged" (a type of stitching and prevents unraveling . . . make sure the towel is surged with COTTON thread, not poly).

Thanks for the reply! I washed all my towels and my three MF towels seem rubbersih. LIke theres still wax on them or something. I tried using dish washing detergent and regular detergent. No help... Im guessing theyre ruined? Guess ill use them for the windows and stuff... Ill run them through the CD TEST later on today =D

thanks again!

ARG...the MF towels dont pass the cd test. Ever so slight scratches form on the cd when i rub on it. Is it worth the chance? naa i wont use em on my paint. =D

Call the MF doctor to save them MF's

Try soaking them overnight in a concentrated solution of Dawn and water. Then rinse them very well. Then wash them with TIDE or such in machine. Heck try warm water no cold.

If that doesn't help. Send them to FLONI he is a nurse and should be able to save them. He invented the Bionic MF a while back.

My parents drive a 99 Chrysler 300M. Charcoal black. They live in San Diego so I rarely have any time to work on their car. I have just waxed it a few times when I flew down there. Whenever I see it I always yell at my mother about her California Car Duster. Just like a rotary, in the wrong hands these things do damage!! We always argue about this and she always says she doesn't care, it makes her car shiny again (even though it has scratched it all to hell).

Well they just drove up for a visit and I had the car for a day finally. Here is the finish on the trunklid with the offender pictured.

I got her to admit she "rubs" the car with it and especially hard where there are "spots" It's funny because she must have read the directions at some point because she knows not to wash it, she must have missed the part about using it lightly! When I tried to explain it to her in the past she would say " I'm not scared of you, I can use it if I want"

Anyway she always contends that her car looks great. So I compounded and polished 1/2 the trunk and made her come out and look at it. She could finally see the difference!!! With a side by side comparo she could not deny all the scratches she had been making!!

Long story short I finished the whole car and she agreed to buy a new CCD and only use it AS DIRECTED. The car left here looking great and she and my dad thanked me many times for how it looked like new again.

Even at 45 it feel good to finally win a long standing argument with my mom!!

Its always good to win an argument with your mom... It makes up for those times as a kid you would say, "but MOM!"
