Cars that have been smoked in?

1st post here guys. I did a search but didnt really find what i was looking for. anways, I'm Thinking of picking up a car with a leather interior that i think has been smoked in. The guy lit up one pretty much as soon as i came to look at the car. If i pulled out all the mats, and shampooed the carpet and fully cleaned the interior, do you think i could get the smell out? What about if i fully cleaned the interior, and then let an ionizer from wal-mart or something sit in there overnight?

To permanently remove the smoke odor, buy a product called DrivePur. You won't be disapointed, I will promise you that. I have not found a better product for odor removal.

Not even an ozone generator eh. :spot

MTBSully- Welcome to Autopia!

You're saying you *think* it's been smoked it, and I take that as a good sign (because you're not saying it smells so rank that that you're certain it's been smoked in). Plenty of smokers do *NOT* stink up their vehicles. Most of mine have been smoked in, and nobody would *EVER* know.

If the car's not really awful I wouldn't worry about it that much. Between an ozone generator and stuff like DrivePur (and some time ;) ) you should be able to get it OK.

But if it's *REALLY* stinky I'd probably pass. I've been in some vehicles that I simply cannot imagine ever smelling OK again, everything's simply infused with the tobacco smoke.

A scientific approach to eliminate Cigarette Smoke Odor from Leather Auto Interior!

What is Cigarette Smoke?

These are particles of incomplete combustion with a micron size of 0.1 to 4.

In size comparison, an average human hair is between 40 – 600 microns.

Thus an average smoke particle is 156 times smaller than the human hair.

Why it is Problematic to Remove Smoke Odor?

It is the tar content when exhale; that causes smoke residue to stick tenaciously regardless of surface.

The problem is compounded due to concentration of smoke particles; that accumulate on hard surfaces and penetrates into soft surfaces.

And in an enclosed car environment where air circulation is propelled through the ducting system; the car interior is pressurized; resulting in deeper penetration into every interior cavities.

These inaccessible locations make smoke decontamination a challenging task.

How to Remove Smoke Odor Tips?

Step 1

The sticky residue has to be stripped especially those brown build-ups from the surfaces with a pH 7.7 leather prep to the OEM finish.

Step 2

A leather-safe pH 4.7 soot and smoke booster and deodorizer is added on to the removal process.

Step 3

A leather-safe pH 3.8 cleaner is used to remove all penetrated, lubricated and suspended residues.

Step 4

A leather-safe pH 3.0 rinse is used to remove all residues to a healthy squeaky clean.

Step 5

A leather-scent non-stick protector helps to retard the stickiness of the tar content with an unforgettable classic leather scent.

Note:

This process of cigarette smoke odor removal is applicable to all wet-cleanable interiors.

Give it a try, it works!
