I just purchased a 98 vert mustang cobra and I love it.

It has a long key scratch 12 inches long on the drivers door(touched up. some nail can catch some cant).

Yesterday some *** hit my bumper and scuffed it and put 3 lines on it(like cracked paint maybe) I asked the guy that was parked behind me yesterday if he did it when i saw him this morning(i was watching for him). He cussed at me and threatened to kill me :argue ...but thats a different story I didnt see him so I cant prove it.

anyway

I took it to a "professional" cleanup shop they said they could buff out most of both. When I got it back and $100 later both the scratches look the same.

I bought sctatch x and put a little elbow grease in and signifigently reduced both scratches They dont go away just look lighter and less visiable. So my question is

1. What else should I do to them to make my car "perfect again"

2. Was it normal to have a yellow hase/film on my car after i got it back from being washed and waxed(I guess they buffed on the wax(my car is yellow. Did they go too deep through the clearcoat

3. Should i file a report for having my life threatened

Ill do it my self from now on!!!

Thanks guys

Kevin

I backed into a metal garbage can in my old Saturn, it was the mini one and I didn't see the bugger. A Porter Cable, yellow pad and 3M SMR gave me results I never thought were possible, I was stunned by how well it worked!

Take a rag and a abrasive polish and rub the area, if yellow is on the pad they went through the clear coat. Your Stang has a clear should you shouldn't see any yellow. Was your car first then see if the haze is still there, may be buffer burn from when they used a rotary to remove the other cars paint/plastic from your car.

That's something none of us can advise you on, we don't know what the heck is going on between you two.

I hope it was yellow wax and just residue but if they buffed too deep what can i do just keep it waxed heavy ?

and what exactly would you suggest to remove the scratches better than i did i am scared to get agressive

And i was just kidding about the advice to the crazy guy. If he were really crazy he would have already shot me.I dont pay people like that too much attention He scuffed my car and i cant do anything about it I hope the stress of yelling at me and feling guilty ruined his day and if im lucky gives him a heartattack:eek:

Umm, if they burned the clear coat you can go back and tell them you didn't ask them to remove clear coat, you want a scuff mark buffed out, not your clear. Get it fixed man, no buts or whats about it.

3M SMR is really weak, it's not going to eat through your clear coat. If your doing it by hand, make sure you have alot of time and it's not that large of an area.

I called him and he made excusses and said the yellow dust was pollen! yeah and the scratch was to deep anyway he didnt offer a refund or free wash or anything I told him I got a $30 wash for 100 and I would never go back He just said ok bye.

What a ****!!!

So how do i tell if they buffed through the clearcoat??
