Car is a dust magnet and need some info on drying technique as well.

Hey everyone..

Whenever I wash my car and dry it (all using plush MF and waffle weave towels), I notice the car attracts tons of small hair, dust particles and lint.. does anyone know how to de-magnetize the car or the MF/waffle towels I use? Any ideas, tips etc? Thanks for sharing..



Also can anyone recommend me some good branded towels for drying and a good drying technique as well?
 
Where do you live? What kind of wax are you using?



It's not magnetics attracting dust. It's a static charge, generally caused by a lack of humidity or a product you apply that's attracting the dust.
 
it could be your towels have some static charge in them from drying them in the dryer. try using some QD (FK425 would be an excellent choice) while drying and it might aid in any static charge that's in the towels as well. try it out and see where it gets you...
 
Is QD = Quick Detailer?

I use plush MF towels and waffle weave towels.. When I wash my towels, I dry them in the dryer, do you think this might be creating the static charge? BTW, I live in SD and car is not waxed etc.. I use Zaino or Meguiar's car wash along with sheep skin wash mitt...

yes, QD = quick detailer... some like to put their mf towels in the dryer and take them out when they are a little damp and hang dry them...

Yep. I've had excellent results from adding a post detail wipe down using waterless wash... amazingly dramatic reduction in static on the paints surface.
 
Arn't QD waxes in a bottle? would it make sense to put wax over wax? please tell lol..my black car has the same problem...after a wash dust like hell....bit better after poor boys nasty..but still dust lol.
