Canadians - where to buy the PC

I think that's not a great price, but not bad. I suspect if you add shipping (about $40 US) and duty, you'll be closer to $250 CDN.

Too expensive there...You can get it in the US for like 150 Canadian

Then buy it from the states.

Unless you drive to buy it, it's gonna cost you more bones than $150 CAD.

Summit Tools can ship it out to you if you can't find it local, but I would suggest calling up either Home Hardware (they can order it in, but check for in-store deals), or better yet, pick up your phone book and start calling places under Tools, and Building Supplies - Retail, who also often carry power tools (like HH).

I don't know how much it can go for back east but the cheapest I found last year was for $175. You should get the 7336 of course, but will still need to buy accessories.

"What is the diff between 7242 and 7336"

Good question, I have a 7336 it comes with 6" pad + 6" counter weight. I think the 7424 comes with a 5" pad and 5" counter weight.

If there are any other differences I don't know ( but I'm sure someone on this forum does)

jonmiller is correct. The 7336 comes with a 6" psa pad. You will need to change that over to velcro. The 7424 includes a 5" porter cable foam pad that is fixed to the backing plate. You will still need a 5 or 6" velcro backing pad or have to pay the 25 bucks for another p/c foam pad when needed.

CTC & many H/Depot have the 7424 in the GTA. Price isn't the best. Probably better swinging a deal through a tool supplier.

Young Stallion. Do you visit the GTAMC by the same name?

Bill M.

So the 7336 is the EXACT same thing, just with what I will eventually need to purchase for the 7424?

I am a member of the GTAMC with the same name...as well as all the other stang sites...Corral, Stangnet, SVT Perf, etc...

Trying to sell my car currently.

I was just planning on getting the 7424 and the necessary pads/accessories, etc.

I've seen the PC 7424 and 7336 at Canadian Tire. I was actually surprised to see they carried the PC. The prices weren't any better than what I've seen on the board.

That and the fact it looked like almost all the box's had been opened and retaped sort of left me with doubts about buying it from CT.

Before I found the PC at Canadian Tire I located the Distributor for PC products in the Markham area:

Markham Industry

(905) 477 - 5192

Admins not sure if it's okay to list the Name and number of the company but feel free to delete post if necessary.

The price wasn't any cheaper than CT but you can order anything your looking for all from one place and it's local.

Young_Stallion if you want we can try to see if they can better the price if we buy 2 or more from them.

One of you guys up there is going to be rich. Just set your wife up selling products over the net. There is an old saying telephone, telegraph, tell a woman. Believe me selling a polymer in Canada should be as easy as selling ice cream in Texas.

just my 2 cents

Still lost on what the hell a polymer is and when to use one.

I was told I can use it after I polish, and before I glaze then wax.

an example of one was Menezme(sp) Final Polish, then to Glaze with VM and then wax with s1000

Even though I was told to glaze with VM i was also told to polish with it.

Actually you are not as lost as you think. The industry uses the terms to sell their products not to describe what they actually do. This creates a lot of confusion. For instance I recently learned that Meguiars use the term pure polish which I think of as a glaze. They try to avoid the word abrasive because of the cognizance of the word.

clay: cleans the surface in a special way by pulling and perhaps very slightly abrading the surface. Anyway there is no substitute for clay. result very slick surface.

Compounding is a very strong polish that abrades the surface to remove imperfections.

Polish: abrades the suface to removes swirls and some scratches.

Less aggressive polish to remove any maring and haze cause by the more aggressive polish, cleans and enhances the shine.

Pure polish or Glaze: cleans and adds oils that help to cover or fill swirls and enhance the shine. Note these types of glazes cannot be topped by most polymers because the poymer will not bond to the oil. At this point one must decide if they wish to persue a polymer or a wax.

Polymer, well some like nuts and some dont. A polymer generally last longer which makes it a good choice for harsh climates.Polymers have a higher melting point which is good for hot weather and bonds stronger which helps in cold weather.

shine: It has been my experience that skill is more important than the product.
