Can this rotary be used/useful?

To deal with occasional scratches on my surface of my White '99 M3, and since the only machine I had at the time was a waxmaster type of buffer, I bought an orbital...But because I was new at it, and didnt want to reck the car, I bought an inexpensive one that didnt go too fast....I got a Wen rotary polisher, which operates at 2 speeds: 1200, and 1650 I believe.

Is the faster of these two speeds fast enough to produce the heat required to soften the paint enough to repair scratching which an orbital might take too long to handle? Now, of course, since Ive ordered my PC, that will be my first line of attack, and I would try that at speed 6 before I ever attacked a blemish with the Wen...But if I should have occasion to use it, what do you think?

For my part, I have used it several times before, and received what I thought to be decent results....What I like about it is that its not so powerful that Ive burnt or damaged any paint, yet, its still gotten be results I couldnt attain with my waxmaster...Maybe when my pC gets here, I'll find that it is as effective as the Wen, relegating the Wen to permanent storage. But up til now, when its been my only tool to deal with damage, its been pretty decent.
