Can anyone do a carfax for me?

I'm car shopping and I'm wondering if it is worth it for me to just finally bite the bullet and pay for one, or if it might be easier to just see if anyone wants to help me out. It's like $30 for unlimited carfax reports, but I'm just not sure I want to pay that. I'm shopping online and most of the listings are showing the VIN and I've already flushed a couple with rebuilt titles out. The one I'm looking at right now is a sweet deal, but it is a couple grand below book when it should be more, so it leads me to believe that it might have something significant wrong with it. 2HGES26754H604632 is the VIN if anyone wants to help me out on this one. If anybody wants to go half on a carfax membership then let me know. :)

I'd remove the VIN from your message and keep that to PM's. Sharing a membership or running reports for someone is against their customer agreement and Carfax is notorious for trolling forums and flagging posted VINs.

If I was car shopping I would just pay for the service while you need it..would be faster and you could look up every car that you want to know about

Yeah, this one is going to be a 'no'. The price led me to suspect a rebuilt or salvage title, but carfax confirmed it.

I may just stick to shopping at places that will pull the carfax for me. Usually just upon a visual inspection you can tell when there is something wrong with it. After you look at paint as closely as we do, it becomes pretty obvious when you see a car with body work.

I think that you hit the nail on the head just shop with those that are willing to disclose what they know about the car or can find out in online searches like carfax

There was recently a very large class action lawsuit against Carfax based on everything that they DON'T put in those reports. My state is one of the ones that don't report to Carfax very often, so I really don't expect it to tell me much.

I wonder if I gave the VIN to my insurance company if they would be able to find this kind of stuff out... Hmmm.... it might be time to shop for new car insurance while I'm at it. If Geico won't do it, then maybe one of their competitors will.
